Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop: Anything But Cards

Welcome to the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop 15 with our theme of Anything But Cards. This was a big challenge for me as I tend to make just cards, so it was a hard thinking outside my comfort zone.

One of my favorite stamp sets from the Holiday Catalog is the Merry Café stamp set. One of the things I think about with the cooler weather approaching, is having a hot cocoa or apple cider to keep warm on a chilly day. This stamp set has you covered not only for the various holidays but also for your favorite holiday beverages.

A couple of months ago, I spotted a pack of the paper cups with the lids that you can use for hot drinks and bought them thinking they would make a fun project. Fast forward to now and I have used them for this project to show you how with just some paper, ink and stamps, you can decorate these cute cups for the holidays.

The first cup I decorated for the Fall and we all know the craze of Pumpkin Spice Latte is in full swing, so I thought this cute sentiment was perfect. I also used a strip of the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper to decorate the Early Espresso belly band on the cup. I heat embossed the sentiment with Copper Embossing powder on Very Vanilla cardstock and matted it onto a scalloped circle of Cajun Craze cardstock, all colors from the color palette of the DSP.

The second cup has a Christmas flavor to it, with the traditional red and green theme. I used Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green cardstock with Whisper White for my colors which coordinate with the Be Merry Designer Series Paper I used to embellish the belly band. I heat embossed the sentiment with Silver embossing powder.

I love the traditional colors of Christmas, but this would work well with other combinations for a winter theme using blue tones with the silver embossing or you could use any of the other Designer Series Paper packs available in the Holiday catalog to create a variety of different cup designs.

SBTD Blog Hop Masculine Country Livin'

Welcome to SBTD (Stampers by the Dozen) Blog Hop for October. We are a group of 12 Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world, sharing our creativity.  This month we are exploring Masculine projects to help inspire you. Creating cards for the men in our lives can be a challenge. I hope that the projects I have to share will help you with your own creations.

The stamp set I chose for this month's theme is Country Livin'.  It is a wonderful line art stamp set from Stampin' Up! with amazing possibilities for coloring. This month I am sharing 3 different cards that showcase different ways to color your images.

This first card uses the old fashioned truck image and I chose to use Stampin' Up!'s Watercolor Pencils to color the image. I love how easy it is to color with these watercolor pencils and when you use a blender pen, the color blends into a beautiful watercolor look. The background of this card was created with the Pinewood Planks 3D Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder (item #143708) and Crumb Cake Cardstock. I used a Sponge Dauber to rub Crumb Cake Classic Ink over the textured background to add extra depth. The card base has been created with Cajun Craze Cardstock. I stamped the image on Very Vanilla Cardstock and matted it with Early Espresso Cardstock. Even masculine cards need a little embellishment and I chose the Old Olive 3/8" Mini Chevron ribbon. I love the rustic feel to this card and the colors work well for a masculine card.

The 2nd card I created is almost a mirror image to the 1st card but this time I chose to use the New Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers, which will be available to purchase starting November 1st. I love the way these markers color and I can't wait to experiment with them in future projects. 

For this card I chose Cherry Cobbler Cardstock for my card base to coordinate with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends Markers for the truck. I added a thin matte of Basic Black Cardstock to make the Crumb Cake Cardstock layer pop. I embossed the Crumb Cake Cardstock with the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item #139673) and I lightly sponged the background with Crumb Cake Classic Ink to bring out the detail in the tree trunks. This time I chose to use the Basic Black 3/8" Shimmer ribbon to embellish the card and I added a Basic Black matte around the stamped and colored image to frame it. The Happy Birthday stamp is from the stamp set, Guy Greetings. I love that I could create two different cards using similar supplies with a very different feel to them. The Stampin' Blends provide a bolder, richer color to the stamped image that is very striking.

My final card has a more worn, distressed feel to it. I chose Dapper Denim Cardstock for the card base and added a layer of Marina Mist Cardstock, which I stamped with the Hardwood Background stamp in Dapper Denim Classic ink. I lightly sponged the edges of the Marina Mist Cardstock with Dapper Denim Classic ink to add texture and a distressed look. 

The boots were stamped with Early Espresso Classic ink and Versamark and I embossed the image with Clear Embossing Powder for more definition, onto Soft Suede Cardstock cut out with one of the larger Stitched Shapes Circles. I used the two smaller Stitched Shapes Circles to cut out a circle in Night of Navy and Copper Foil (the Copper reminded me of a shiny penny). I sponged the Night of Navy circle with Whisper White Craft ink for a weathered look. The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and was embossed with Copper Embossing Powder onto Night of Navy Cardstock and accented with Soft Suede Cardstock, both cut with the Classic Label Punch. 

To color the boots, I used the Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Alcohol Marker to accent the lines and shadows of the boots as well as the heel and soles. I sponged the circle with Soft Suede Classic Ink to give the look of worn leather. 

For the final touch, I added a lasso created with the Jute Twine from the 2017 Holiday Catalog. I love the way this twine adds to the country feel of this card. I love the clean and simple design of this card and the way the colors work together. 

I hope that my cards have helped to inspire you to create your own masculine themed projects. These 3 cards would work well for a variety of occasions and for boys/men of all ages.

2nd Annual Pink Blog Hop

Welcome to the 2nd Annual Ultimate Pink Blog Hop. This blog features talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world, sharing their amazing projects to inspire you to get creative. You may have just visited the blog of the talented Pip Todman (Queen Pip) - UK or perhaps you are starting your journey here. Our theme for October is Pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. I think we have all been touched in some way by this terrible disease and participating in this blog hop and sharing my creativity is my way of sharing the beauty of love and hope through art.

My project for this hop features the Lovely Words Thinlets dies from the Lovely Inside & Out Bundle from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog. The stamp set I chose for the flower accents is from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and the Seasonal Layers Thinlets dies, from the Colorful Seasons bundle, which is also in the Annual Catalog. 

In times of need, receiving a card can make a world of difference. I chose to create a card that I would give to a friend to help lift their spirits when they are feeling down. The card base was created with Powder Pink cardstock and I added a layer of Berry Burst cardstock to create the background for my card design. I die cut the "friend" sentiment from Silver foil and used one of the oval dies from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut the oval frame. I layered it on top of a scalloped oval cut from Fresh Fig cardstock die cut with one of the scalloped ovals from the Layering Ovals Framelits dies and centered it on the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I die cut the flowers from Powder Pink cardstock and attached them to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. I highlighted them with Wink of Stella. The flowers on the Berry Burst cardstock layer were stamped with Berry Burst Classic ink and I embossed them with Clear Embossing powder to make them shine.

I loved that I was able to create this card using the 2017-2019 In Colors (Powder Pink, Berry Burst and Fresh Fig) and the Silver Foil just added that touch of elegance. I don't often create with the color Pink, but I must admit, I do love these colors and I feel that I will be using this combination more often in the future.

GSF Blog Hop Spooky Cat Halloween

It's time for October's GSF ( Global Stampin Friends) Blog Hop and this month we are focusing on Halloween. You may have just visited Mary Ann's blog or perhaps you are starting your blog journey here. Either way, I hope you will enjoy all the amazing projects.

I chose the Spooky Cat bundle (item #146014), one of my favorite bundles from the new 2017 Holiday Catalog. I love the versatility of the Spooky Cat stamp set combined with the coordinating Cat Punch and I had so much fun creating my project for this blog hop. 

My project features the Cat Punch (item #144666) and the thought of creating a black cat with green eyes came to mind. I started with a Basic Black cardstock card base and added a layer of Perfect Plum Cardstock to create the look of a twilight sky. I lightly sponged the Perfect Plum with Smoky Slate Classic ink to create the look of a spooky night. The moon was created using the Layering Circles Framelits (item #141705) cut from Crushed Curry Cardstock and then I lightly sponged it with Crushed Curry Classic ink to create the look of a Harvest Moon. I also sponged a little Smoky Slate Classic ink across the face of the moon to add a little depth.  Using the bat image from the Graveyard Gate stamp set, I stamped the bats in the night sky and one on the moon. 

My beautiful black cat was punched from Basic Black Cardstock with the Cat Punch and I colored two of the small Basic Rhinestones with a green permanent marker to get create the look of glowing green cat's eyes. 

The wall was created from a piece of Basic Gray Cardstock that I embossed with the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item #138288) and I sponged the debossed side with Smoky Slate Classic ink for a little extra depth and texture. The top part of the wall was created from a strip of Smoky Slate Cardstock and I also sponged the edges with Smoky Slate Classic ink.

The sentiment is from the Labels to Love stamp set, which coordinates perfectly with the Everyday Label Punch (item #144668).  I heat embossed the sentiment using a little trick with Versamark ink. First I inked the stamp with the Versamark ink and then I inked the stamp with the Archival Basic Black ink and stamped it onto Smoky Slate Cardstock. I then immediately covered the stamped image with Clear Embossing Powder and then heated it with my Heat Tool. This added a glossy finish to my sentiment. I punched it out with the Everyday Label Punch and embellished it with two of the smallest Black Rhinestone Jewels (item #144639). I attached a piece of 3/8" Basic Black Shimmer Ribbon (item #144129) across the brick wall and added the sentiment with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Colorful Seasons SBTD Blog Hop

Welcome to Stampers by the Dozen (SBTD Blog Hop for September. We are a group of 12 Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world, sharing our creative projects to help inspire you. This month's theme is all about trees, leaves and branches. If you are following along with the Blog Hop, you have just visited Susan Simpson's blog and her wonderful projects.

Stampin' Up! has so many wonderful stamp sets featuring trees, leaves and branches to choose from.  I chose the Colorful Seasons Bundle, one of my new favorite bundles from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog. This bundle is so versatile and can be used for projects all through the year.

Here in Colorado, we are preparing for the arrival of Fall. I love the warm colors that reflect the changing of the leaves as nature prepares itself for Winter. The leaves begin to change from their Summer green to warm tones of yellow, orange and red, signaling that cooler weather is here to stay.

For my first card I used the Pinewood Planks 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item #143708) to create the look a wood fence. I love the texture this folder creates and when I sponged the Crumb Cake cardstock with Crumb Cake Classic ink, it really brought out the detail of the wood grain. I used the large and small solid leaf dies from the Seasonal Layers Thinlets dies (item #143751) to cut out one large leaf and two of the smaller leaves from the Crumb Cake cardstock layer. Using the detailed Leaf die, I cut out one leaf from a scrap of Gold Foil.

To create the color for the smaller leaves, I punched out one circle of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and one circle of Pumpkin Pie using the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. I adhered the circles to the back side of the Crumb Cake cardstock so that the colors were visible through the die cut openings.

Next, I adhered the Crumb Cake cardstock layer to a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock and then inlaid the Gold Detail Leaf die cut into the large leaf opening using a little Snail adhesive to hold it in place. The sentiment is from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set (item #143855) and I heat embossed it with Gold embossing powder. I then used the Oval Layering dies to cut out the sentiment and layered it with a scalloped oval of Chocolate Chip cardstock. I attached the sentiment to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. To finish off the card, I attached the layers to a Chocolate Chip cardstock base. For a little sparkle, I outlined the smaller leaves with Wink of Stella to help them stand out.
This card design would work well for a masculine card for the men in your life.

My second card has a slightly more summery feel to it with just a touch of Fall from the Pumpkin Pie leaves. With this card I used the Colorful Seasons stamp set (item #143726) for a watercolor look to the leaves. For the large and small Pumpkin Pie leaves, I stamped off once to give a lighter shade of orange and then stamped the detailed leaf stamp image full strength in Pumpkin Pie to give it added depth and definition. I stamped the smaller leaf stamp in Pear Pizzazz Class ink  The sentiment has been embossed with Copper embossing powder for a touch of elegance.

The card base and first layer of this card are Pear Pizzazz cardstock, one of my go-to greens. I embossed the layer with the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item #143704) to add a some texture to the card. I punched out circles of Gold and Copper Foil with the 1 3/8" Circle punch debossed them also using the Layered Leaves embossing folder. The large Whisper White circle was die cut with the largest circle die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies. I love the detail of the stitching on the circle to finish it off.  This card design would be wonderful as a birthday or Thank You card.

Stampin' Up! Blog Hop - Anything But the Holidays Blog Hop

Welcome to the Anything But the Holidays Blog Hop, featuring products from the new 2017 Holiday Catalog in a way you might not have thought to use them. We all love Holiday products but wouldn't it be great if you had ideas on how to use these products for your every day projects for added value.

With so many amazing products to choose from, I decided to use the Painted Harvest Bundle, which includes the Painted Harvest photopolymer stamp set (item #144783) and the Leaf Punch (item #144667). When you purchase these two products as a bundle (item #146021), you save 10%.

So this bundle is a Fall themed bundle in the Holiday Catalog, and I thought it would be fun to try out some non-traditional colors for the flowers to show how versatile this bundle is. I had a lot of fun playing with different color combinations and today I am sharing just two of the color combinations that I tried.

My first color combination features Berry Burst and Flirty Flamingo, two of our amazing In Colors. I loved how well they worked together and the depth it gave to the flower petals. The center of the flower was stamped with Soft Suede and the leaves were stamped using Pear Pizzazz. I punched out the leaves using the Leaf Punch to add a little depth and dimension. The flower was punched out using the Starburst Punch (item #143717) and layered onto a scalloped circle of Pear Pizzazz cut with the Layering Circles Framelits dies (item # 141705).

The Gold Snowflake adds a touch of elegance to this card and is just one of the fabulous embellishments available in the Holiday Catalog (Foil Snowflakes item #144642). I love the way the gold foil makes the flower come alive and it ties in beautifully with the gold foil oval that I used as a matte for the sentiment, which I embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. 

To add a little dimension to the card, I embossed a piece of Berry Burst cardstock with the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and highlighted the embossed leaves with Clear Wink of Stella for a touch of sparkle as well as the flower petals and stamped leaves. 

Put it all together and you have a beautiful birthday card for someone special.

My next color combination led to me creating two cards using the same layout. When I created the first card, I couldn't decide whether I wanted the card to be vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape). Needing help, I posted my dilemma on my Facebook page and asked my followers what they thought. After many wonderful responses and suggestions, it still ended up a tie. Some people suggested I do both, so that is what I did. It is a good example of how you can create a design that will work in either direction to create a beautiful card. 

Both cards were created using the same color palette: Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry for the flower petals and Crumb Cake for the center of the flower. The leaves were stamped using Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz.  I added a touch of Clear Wink of Stella to the flowers and leaves for a little sparkle. I layered the stamped panel onto a layer of Rich Razzleberry cardstock and then mounted it onto an Old Olive card base. 

The frame and sentiments were stamped from the Rose Wonder photopolymer stamp set (140697) and I embossed them with Gold Embossing Powder for a touch of elegance. I die cut the sentiment using the frame thinlet from the Rose Garden Thinlets dies. I used the smallest pearls from the Pearl Basic Jewels to embellish the sentiment and then layered it onto a piece of Gold 3/8" Metallic-Edge Ribbon.

Global Stamping Friends September Blog Hop Color Challenge

It's time for the September Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop and this month we have a Color Challenge to share.  We were all given the challenge to create a project using the following colors: Whisper White, Smokey Slate, Pool Party, Night of Navy.  

I really enjoyed working with these colors and I decided to focus on clean and simple card designs that would work well for masculine cards. it is always a challenge designing cards for the men in our lives, so I thought this would help me step outside my comfort zone a little.

Stampin' Up! Tabs for Everything Photopolymer Stamp Set item #143907

I chose the Tabs for Everything photopolymer stamp set (item #143907) as it was a new set in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog that I had not had a chance to use yet. It has a coordinating Circle Tab Punch (item #143754) but I decided to focus on using just the stamp set. 

For my first card I decided to create a birthday card with a geometric feel to it, using circle punches and the Layering Squares Framelits Dies (item #141708). I chose to use Smoky Slate cardstock for my card base and used Night of Navy and Whisper White cardstock for my layers. I embossed the Whisper White cardstock with the new Polka Dots Basics Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with my Big Shot. I stamped around the raised polka dots randomly with Pool Party, Smoky Slate and Night of Navy Classic Ink with one of the circle stamps to add a little color to the background.

I stamped the images onto Pool Party cardstock and Smoky Slate cardstock using Versamark ink and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. I punched the images out using the 1" Circle Punch. I stamped the images for the square onto Whisper White cardstock and then die cut it with one of the smaller square dies from the Layering Squares Framelits dies. The matte layers were die cut from Smoky Slate and Night of Navy cardstock. The mattes for the circles were punched with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch from Night of Navy cardstock. I used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the stamped elements.

Thrifty Tip: Cut the mattes for the square and circles from the layer of Night of Navy cardstock to save cardstock. The cut outs will be hidden by the Whisper White cardstock.

My second card could be used for a variety of occasions and this style of card is great to have in your card stash in case of an emergency. I love the way the "thumbs up" image works with the sentiment and the Best Badge Punch in Night of Navy creates a great focal point for the card design. I used the Oh My Stars Textured Embossing Folder (item #143710) to add texture to the layer of Pool Party cardstock attached to the Thick Whisper White cardstock card base. I used Smoky Slate cardstock as an accent color with the thin strip across the middle and the matte around the sentiment circle. I used  Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the circle and badge punches to add a little dimension.

Even though both of these cards were created with the same stamp set and the same color palette, they both look very different. It is a good example of how you can create a variety of cards with a limited supply list and I enjoyed the challenge. I hope you have enjoyed my projects as much as I did creating them.

This is our first blog hop and to start things off we thought we would share just some of the amazing products that will be available in the 2017 Holiday Catalog, which will launch September 1st. With so many amazing products to choose from, it was tough to decide what I would showcase for this blog hop. Finally I decided to that with Fall just a few weeks away, I would share with you a stunning new stamp set, Painted Harvest, that combines the look of watercolors with the ease of two-step stamping. I had fun playing with various color combinations for the sunflowers and leaves before settling on my final combination. For the petals, I chose Daffodil Delight and Peekaboo Peach for a soft watercolor wash look. For the center I went with Soft Suede to give depth and dimension. Finally for the leaves I chose Pear Pizzazz to help the sunflowers come alive.

I decided to emboss the sentiments on both the card and bookmark with Copper Embossing Powder. To add a little texture, I used the 5/8" Burlap Ribbon on both the card and the bookmark and I tied a bow on the bookmark with the 3/8" Old Olive Mini Chevron Ribbon. To frame the sentiment on the card, I used the new Everyday Label Punch and punched twice out of Early Espresso cardstock. I cut one in half horizontally and the other in half vertically and pieced them together behind the sentiment.

The Painted Harvest stamp set has a coordinating punch (Leaf Punch not shown) and can be purchased as a bundle with a savings of 10%. This stamp set is so versatile and the color combinations are endless. I predict that this will be one of the hot bundles of the Holiday Catalog and I recommend that you add it to your Wish List. I hope my projects help inspire you to with your Fall creations.
