Welcome to the Around The World On Wednesday September Blog Hop and this month our theme is "Let's Take A Walk". Here in Colorado, the weather is getting cooler and there is a definite feeling of Fall in the air. It's the perfect weather for taking a walk and enjoying the beautiful world around us. The leaves are slowly starting to change colors and my neighbors are already decorating their homes for the new season.
One of our family's favorite places to visit is the Rocky Mountain National Park, which is about an hour's drive from our home. It's a great place to hike and explore, no matter the season. For my card design, I chose to use one of the designs from the A Walk In The Forest Designer Series Paper for the background, to look like the forests in the national park. I fussy cut one of the sweet brown bears from another sheet in this paper pack to represent the animals that live there. This clean and simple birthday card works well as a masculine design and is easy to assemble.

For this nature themed birthday card, I chose to use two of the greens featured in the designer series paper - Garden Green and Pretty Peacock. I love how they look together and they create a wonderful frame for the designer series paper layer. I heat embossed the sentiment with White embossing powder onto the Pretty Peacock sentiment oval and layered it onto the scalloped Garden Green oval to frame it. I wound a piece of Linen Thread twice around the card front and tied a knot at the front. I layered the sentiment ovals over the top and attached it with Stampin' Dimensionals to the card front. I added the bear to the bottom right corner with Stampin' Dimensionals to pop him up and add dimension to the card design. To finish off the card, I added two of the Copper Brushed Metallic Dots to the sentiment oval to step up the design.

Such a nice birthday card from this DSP, Tricia. Love that it reminds you of the Smoky Mountain National Park not far from you. I'm sure it's amazing as the part of the mountain range through Tennessee is breathtaking. Thanks for sharing. x
