How does this work? Each of us will be using a card designed by a fellow team member as our inspiration for our project this month. I am so excited to be CASEing the wonderful Satomi Wellard, a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator from Japan and Australia.
I chose to CASE the beautiful card shown above that Satomi created using the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper (item #152483) and I loved the layout with the contrasting paper colors and designs. Below is the design that I came up with that was inspired by her lovely card design.
For my card design, I chose to do a simple fun fold. I chose Gray Granite cardstock for the card base and I cut a 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" piece and scored it at 3 1/4". For the front panel, I cut a 3 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock and attached it to the card front. For the inside panel, I cut a 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock. I cut a piece of the Peony Garden Suite Designer Series Paper at 5 1/4" x 4" and then I cut a 1" strip off so that I had two pieces - 5 1/4" x 3" and 5 1/4" x 1". Attached the larger piece to the card front with the Gray Granite pattern facing up and I attached the 1" strip to the inside panel on the right side, with the Petal Pink pattern facing up. To create the focal design, I die cut the base layer of the butterflies die image from the Butterfly Beauty Dies (item #151819) from Thick Whisper White cardstock and the detailed layer was die cut from Gold Foil. I adhered the Gold detailed layer to the Whisper White layer and then attached the butterflies to the card front so that they slightly overlapped the card front.
I die cut two of the small butterflies from Gold Foil and attached them to the inside panel of the card on opposite corners to decorate. I liked the elegant touch the Gold Foil added to the inside design.
The sentiment was created using the Gorgeous Posies stamp set (item #153289) and I heat embossed the sentiment with Gold Embossing Powder onto a 3/4" strip of Whisper White cardstock and created a label using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch (item #152883). I layered it onto a 1" Petal Pink cardstock label that I created also using the punch.
To complete the card design, I attached the sentiment label to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals and embellished the label and the card front with small Basic Rhinestones for a touch of bling. I love that I was able to take elements from Satomi's wonderful card to help me create my own unique design. It's one of my favorite things about CASEing.
