2020 Kre8tors July Blog Hop Color Challenge

Welcome to the 2020 Kre8tors July Blog Hop and this month we have a wonderful color challenge to share with you. Our theme this month is Tropical Nights and the colors for this challenge are Basic Black, Basic Gray, Rococo Rose, Night of Navy and So Saffron. We have been challenged to use at least one of these colors to create our project. I am so excited to see what this talented group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators creates this month.
For my card, I chose to use all the colors to create this clean and simple design. This card features the Painted Poppies Bundle (item #153827) for the main design and I used the sentiment from the Butterfly Gala stamp set (item #148580).
To create this card design, I started with a Basic Gray cardstock card base and added a layer of Whisper White cardstock for the focal layer. I stamped the poppies from the Painted Poppies stamp set, towards the center of the cardstock, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them using So Saffron and Rococo Rose Stampin' Blends Markers.
I wanted to create a soft water color look for the background, so I used the Night of Navy Watercolor pencil from the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 (item #149014) to lightly color around the poppies to create a soft background. I then used a Blender Pen and smoothed out the pencil marks to create a subtle background.
To create the border, I attached a 1" x 5 1/4" strip of Basic Gray Designer Series Paper from the Neutrals 6"x6" Designer Series Paper pack (item #152485) to the left side of the Whisper White cardstock layer. I added a piece of Silver 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon (item #144213) along the side of the designer series paper strip. I attached the card front to the card base with adhesive.
To complete the card design, I heat embossed the sentiment from the Butterfly Gala stamp set onto Basic Black cardstock with White Embossing Powder. I die cut the sentiment using one of the labels from the Painted Labels Dies and attached it to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals. For a touch of bling, I added two small Basic Rhinestones to finish off the card design.
