It's time for the ICS May Blog Hop and this month we are focusing on projects for Dads, Grads, Brides and Babies to help us prepare for upcoming events. I chose to focus on creating a baby card as the stork has been very busy in my neck of the woods over the past couple of months. There is something so precious about a new baby and the joy that they bring, so I wanted to create a card that would make the new parents smile and feel happy.
I chose to use the Perfectly Paired stamp set (item #148712) from the 2019 Occasions Catalog because it works perfectly for both boys and girls and has amazing sentiments included in the set. The colors I chose for this card are Balmy Blue, So Saffron and Whisper White and would work well for a baby boy card. I stamped the large image onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Gold embossing powder. I thought the gold outline would stand out more when colored and added a special touch to the design.
I colored the image with Stampin' Blends Markers as well as the waves below the boat. I love how the bright colors that bring the animals to life and add dimension to the ark. I used a Sponge Dauber and Balmy Blue Classic ink to create the sky so that it has the look of clouds.
The sentiment was heat embossed onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with Gold embossing powder and I lightly sponged it with So Saffron Classic ink so that it coordinates with the matte layer framing the main panel. I also added a piece of Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Ribbon (item #146912) under the sentiment to add texture to the card front.
This card design could be easily created in Pinks for a baby girl card and still be very sweet. This stamp set is wonderful for a variety of baby projects including a sampler to celebrate a new arrival.
I hope you have enjoyed my project today and I hope it inspires you to create your own cards for the people you love on these special occasions.
