We Create The Blues Blog Hop

Happy New Year!
Welcome to the first We Create Blog Hop of 2019 and this month's theme is "The Blues". My card features products from the New 2019 Occasions Catalog and the 2019 Sale-a-bration Catalog as a sneak peek ready for their launch on January 3rd.

My card design features the beautiful Balmy Blue, which is one of the new colors recently added to the Stampin' Up! collection. Using the Balmy Blue cardstock for my card base, I added a layer of Whisper White cardstock with a 2" strip of the New Gingham Gala 6"x6" Designer Series Paper (item #148554) in Balmy Blue. I chose the side with the smaller check design but you could just as easily use the larger check pattern on the reverse side.

The focal point has been created using the Piece of Cake Bundle (item #150579) which features the Piece of Cake photopolymer stamp set and coordinating Cake Builder Punch. I heat embossed the stamped images with Silver embossing powder and punched them out with the punch. I colored the images using the new Light and Dark Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends Markers as well as the Light Night of Navy Stampin' Blend Marker.

I layered the pieces onto a 2" Whisper White cardstock circle punched out with the 2" Circle Punch and layered in onto a piece of Silver Foil punched out with the Starburst Punch. I just love the way that the silver looks with the blue. The punched out cake pieces have been attached with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals for extra dimension. I added piece of Balmy Blue Organdy Ribbon, from the Sale-a-bration Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack, to the center of the card base and adhered the focal design over the ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals. I tied a small bow using the ribbon and added it below the design.

To create the sentiment, I heat embossed the Happy Birthday from the stamp set with Silver embossing powder onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and created a banner look using the Tailored Tag Punch.

To finish off the card design, I added a touch of bling with Basic Rhinestones for a little sparkle. After all, everyone should have a little sparkle on their birthday.

I just love how these new products work together. Did you know that if you placed an order for the Piece of Cake Bundle, Gingham Gala 6"x6" Designer Series Paper and the Balmy Blue Combo Stampin' Blends Pack during Sale-a-bration (starting January 3rd), you could choose the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack as your Free Sale-a-bration product. This amazing pack contains 1 roll each of 5 beautiful colors of Organdy Ribbon - Balmy Blue, Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight, Highland Heather and Lemon Lime Twist (5 yards per roll). This pack of ribbon coordinates perfectly with the colors in the Gingham Gala DSP pack to help you create beautiful projects.

I hope that you have enjoyed my card design today and I hope it inspires you to create your own cards for 2019. Now it's time to visit Julie's blog and see what she has to share with us this month. Just click the Next button below to visit her blog. I hope you enjoy the rest of our blog hop.

Until Next Time.
Happy Stampin',
