What's New at SU Blog Hop Masculine

It's time to hop with the What's New at SU Blog Hop and this month our theme is Masculine cards for the men in our lives. With events like Father's Day and Graduation just around the corner, I hope that our projects will help to inspire you to create your own creations for the special guys in your life.
For my card design, I chose to use the Geared Up Garage Bundle (item #150610) from the 2019 Occasions Catalog. I love the versatility of this bundle and the stamps and dies are wonderful for creating fun card designs. For the background, I chose one of the pattern papers from the Best Route Designer Series Paper (item #146897) available in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog as the designs are perfect for masculine projects. Sadly, this beautiful paper is retiring, so I would suggest ordering it soon before it disappears.
I chose to use Gray Granite cardstock for the card base as a nice contrast with the Blueberry Bushel designer series paper. Th street design on the paper works great with the car image from the Geared Up Garage stamp set (item #148590) and I was able to die cut it using the coordinating die from the Garage Gear Dies (item #148521). Did you know that if you order this stamp set and coordinating dies as a bundle you can save 10%? This bundle price ends June 3rd, 2019 if you wish to take advantage of the savings.
The car image was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the car image with Stampin' Blends Markers and attached it to the card front with Snail Adhesive. The sentiment was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock with Versamark ink and I heat embossed it with Silver embossing powder. I punched out the sentiment using the Tailored Tag Punch (item #145667) and then created a matte from Real Red cardstock using the Everyday Label Punch (item #144668). I attached the label to the card front using the Stampin' Dimensionals. I added Silver Metallic Pearls to embellish the sentiment label.
Using several of the dies from the Garage Gears Dies, I die cut the gears from Silver Foil and distressed them using a tissue and Stazon Jet Black ink, to create a worn, dirty look. I attached them to the card front with Snail Adhesive.
This clean and simple masculine card design would work great for a variety of occasions and for a wide range of ages. I like the idea of using it as a non-traditional Graduation card or teenage birthday but it would also make a great Father's Day card.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today. I hope that my card design helps provide you with inspiration. If you live in the U.S. and do not already have a demonstrator, please contact me and I would be happy to help you.

SBTD March Step It Up Blog Hop

Welcome to the SBTD March Blog Hop and it's time to "Step It Up" and take our projects to the next level. You will be visiting with Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world as they share their projects to inspire you. You may have just visited Susan's blog or perhaps you are starting your journey with me. I hope that you enjoy the projects we have to share with you today.
Today I thought I would show how to create a clean and simple card design and a stepped up version, using the Geared Up Garage Bundle (item #150610) and the Well Said stamp set (item #148796), both from the 2019 Occasions Catalog. I also used the Classic Garage 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (item #148482) as an accent to both cards.
The clean and simple card design features a Smoky Slate cardstock card base and I stamped the background with images from the Geared Up Garage stamp set using Smoky Slate and Crushed Curry Classic ink pads. I really like the grunge style of the background and I think it's perfect for a masculine card. I added a Tranquil Tide cardstock strip 2" x 4 1/4" to matte the Whisper cardstock White strip which is 1 3/4" x 4 1/4". I stamped the car image and the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the car image using Stampin' Blends Markers. To finish off the card, I added to 1" strips of the Classic Garage Designer Series Paper and created banners on both strips using the Banner Triple Punch (item #138292). I layered them onto the card front so that they peek out from under the focal strip.

For my stepped up card design, I took advantage of the amazing Garage Gears Thinlets dies that are a part of the Geared Up Garage Bundle. When you order both the stamp set and thinlets dies as a bundle, you save 10%. For this card I chose to use Tranquil Tide cardstock for the card basse and the matte for the designer series paper strip. I added a layer of Smoky Slate cardstock and stamped the images with Smoky Slate Classic ink.
To create the gears, I die cut them from Smoky Slate cardstock and then coated them with Versamark ink and Silver embossing powder and heat embossed them. To give them a worn, stained look, I then coated them again with Versamark ink but this time I added a light coating of black embossing powder and heat embossed them. I love the way the silver shows through the black to give that wonderfully worn metallic look. For the card image, I stamped it in Versamark onto Whisper White cardstock and heat embossed it with Black embossing powder to give it a glossy look. I then colored the image with Stampin' Blends Markers and attached to the designer series paper strip with Stampin' Dimensionals. For the sentiment, I heat embossed it with Silver embossing powder onto Basic Black cardstock and die cut it with one of the banners from the Bunch of Banners Framelits dies (item #141488).
As you can see, you can create very different card designs using the same supplies. It's all about how you use them. The Classic Garage Suite in the 2019 Occasions Catalog has a wonderful range of products that coordinate beautifully to take all the stress out of creating. It's just a matter of having fun and exploring the possibilities.
