Welcome to the ICS March Blog Hop as we showcase how to create with one stamp set in different ways. This month we have been challenged to create 3 card designs using the same stamp set, stepping each one up from the previous one. The cards can be suitable for a beginner, casual and avid crafter to show how versatile the stamp set is for creating beautiful projects.
The stamp set I chose to use today is the Witty-cisms stamp set (item #151686) from the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog. This stamp set is full of wonderful images and fun sentiments and the hardest part was choosing which one to use for my cards today. In the end, I chose to create baby cards using the Welcome Little One stamp image, and although I chose to create with colors suitable for a baby girl, you could just as easily create baby boy cards by switching the colors.
For my first card design, suitable for a beginner, I chose to use Purple Posy for my card base and I stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock. I colored the image using Gorgeous Grape and Flirty Flamingo Watercolor Pencils from the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 (item #149014) and blended the coloring with Clear Wink of Stella. I punched out the image using the 2 1/4" Circle Punch (item #143720). To assemble the card, I added a piece of Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon to the card front and added the circle image on top of the ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals. For a touch of bling, I added two small Basic Rhinestones to the circle image to complete the card design. This card design is great for beginner stampers and is a simple way to create a pretty baby card.
My second card design is suitable for a casual stamper who is looking to take the next step in creating their projects. I started with Highland Heather cardstock for my card base and I added a layer of Purple Posy cardstock for the background. To step up the card design, I decided to add a strip of 2" x 5 1/4" Purple Posy Gingham paper from the 2019-2021 In Colors 6"x6" Designer Series Paper Pack (item #149617) and I layered it onto a piece of 2 1/4" x5 1/4" Highland Heather cardstock to create a matte. I added a piece of the Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around the center of this panel and attached the panel to the card front, centering it on the card. To create the focal image, I heat embossed the image with Silver embossing powder onto Whisper White cardstock and colored the image with Light and Dark Purple Posy Stampin' Blends Markers and Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends Markers and added Clear Wink of Stella for a touch of shimmer. I punched out the image using the Starburst Punch (item #143717) and layered it onto a Highland Heater circle punched out using the 2 1/4" Circle Punch. I added the focal image over the top of the ribbon in the center of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. I added a bow tied from the Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon to the top of the circle using a Mini Dimensional and finished off the design with three small Basic Rhinestones for a touch of bling. This card design offers a fun technique with heat embossing and the addition of layers to step it up a level without being complicated.
For my final card design, I went for the Wow factor that an avid stamper loves when creating their projects. This card design is similar to the previous card but I stepped it up to the next level. Once again I started with a Highland Heather cardstock card base and added a layer of Purple Posy cardstock for the background but this time I embossed this layer with the Country Floral 3D Embossing Folder to add texture. The ribbon I chose to add to the gingham layer is the Silver 3/8" Metallic-Edge Ribbon (item #144213) and I colored the ribbon using the Dark Purple Posy Stampin' Blend Marker so that I coordinates with the colors in the card design. To frame the focal image that I created in the second card design, I added a Silver Foil die cut that I created using one of the dies from the Painted Labels Dies (item #151605). For the focal image, I popped each layer up using Mini Dimensionals to add extra dimension and really make it stand out. I added small Basic Rhinestones to the card design for a touch of bling to finish off the card design.
