Global Stamping Friends December Blog Hop Last Minute Lucy

Welcome to the Global Stamping Friends December Blog Hop and this month our theme is appropriately called "Last Minute Lucy". If you are like me, you are woefully behind on everything to do with Christmas and maybe even a little desperate for some fun holiday projects to help save the day. Our Design Team will be sharing their wonderful ideas and projects to help spark your creativity ready for the holiday season.
Clean and simple holiday cards don't need to be boring and I couldn't wait to create this card design using the Sweetest Star Bundle and the Iconic Celebrations 6"x6" Designer Series Paper to show how much fun you can have with a few simple supplies. I love heat embossing and this technique was perfect for creating the cute gingerbread star men as well as the sentiments for the card design. The candy cane designer series paper helps to tie it all together and add a pop of color to the card.
Products Used:
Sweetest Star Bundle (item #164098)
1 3/4" Circle Punch (item #119850)
Iconic Celebrations 6"x6" Designer Series Paper (item #164193)
Pecan Pie Cardstock (item #161717)
Cherry Cobbler Cardstock (item #119685)
Versamark Pad (item #102283)
Basics Wow Embossing Powders (item #165679)
Blooming Pearls (item #162238)
Stampin' Dimensionals (item #104430)
Measurements:
Pecan Pie Cardstock
Card Base - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" (Scored at 4 1/4")
2 Gingerbread Stars stamped and punched with the Sweetest Star Bundle
Cherry Cobbler Cardstock
Matte Layer - 2 3/4" x 5 1/2"
Sentiment Circle punched out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch
Iconic Celebrations Designer Series Paper
Focal Strip - 2 1/2" x 5 1/2"
This fun layout is simple to create and you can use it to create a variety of card designs using these supplies. Just think of the stack of cards you could create to send out to family and friends. I heat embossed the gingerbread men image onto Pecan Pie cardstock using White embossing powder and then punched them out using the coordinating Sweetest Star Punch. For the sentiment, I also heat embossed the image with White embossing powder and punched it out using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch. To help make the designer series paper layer stand out, I layered it onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock to create a matte layer. I also heat embossed the main sentiment along the bottom of the Pecan Pie card base with White embossing powder and then added the designer series paper layer to the card base, centering it above the sentiment. I added the gingerbread stars to the designer series paper layer and then popped up the Cherry Cobbler circle with Stampin' Dimensionals to add some dimension to the design. To complete the card, I added several of the small Pink Pearls from the Blooming Pearls to create the buttons on each of the gingerbread men and two of the large Pink Pearls on either side of the bottom sentiment. Isn't this card so cute and fun? I think it would be perfect for the baker in your life or maybe just right for someone who loves cookies.
