Around The World On Wednesday December Blog Hop Technique Challenge

Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday December Blog Hop. This month we have a Technique Challenge as we focus on techniques that are new to us or perhaps an old technique that we have used in a while and have chosen to revisit. Our amazing Design Team will be sharing their projects and ideas to help inspire you to explore using different techniques to create your own beautiful projects.
One of my favorite techniques would have to be heat embossing and I love to experiment with different ways to use this technique to create my card designs. For today's card, I chose to create an emboss resist background using the Layers of Beauty stamp set and used the color combination of Pretty In Pink, Petunia Pop and Gorgeous Grape to create and ombre look that reminds of twilight. I used Basic Black cardstock to frame the card front and for the sentiment label to help make the emboss resist background pop. I love how this combination of simple techniques can create a stunning card design that helps bring the stamped image to life.

I love playing with different color combinations and when I knew that I wanted to use the Emboss Resist technique, I wanted to have a color combination that not only blended well but also would bring the floral design to life. I heat embossed the floral image from the Layers of Beauty stamp set using Clear embossing powder onto the Basic White card front. I applied the colors to the Basic White cardstock using Blending Brushes, starting with Pretty In Pink Classic ink and then moving to Petunia Pop and finally Gorgeous Grape to create the ombre background. Once I had the colors blended together the way I wanted, I used a tissue to wipe off the excess ink from the embossed image to make it pop. For the sentiment label, I heat embossed the image from the Love & Strength stamp set with White embossing powder onto Basic Black cardstock and then punched it out using the Modern Oval Punch. To assemble the card design, I layered the card front onto the Basic Black cardstock layer and then attached it to the Thick Basic White card base. I attached the Basic Black sentiment label with Stampin' Dimensionals to pop it up. For a touch of bling, I added two of the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems to the sentiment label to complete the card design.
