Kylie Bertucci's Monthly International Blog Highlights May 2020

Welcome To Kylie's May Monthly International Blog Highlights as we showcase ideas to say Thank You to the people in our lives. Now more than ever, it is so important to say Thank You to all the amazing people who help us get through each day in this challenging time. I hope that our project ideas will help inspire you to create your own special Thank You projects to give to the people in your life.
Today's card is a clean and simple design featuring the retiring Artfully Aware stamp set (item #149447) paired with the Stitched Be Mine Dies (item #151814). This beautiful stamp set is a special stamp set that Janet Wakeland helped design as a $1 Million Achiever, in memory of her mother who is battling Alzheimer's Disease. I wanted to design a card that would showcase the simple beauty of the images of this stamp set.
For this card design, I chose to use Basic Black cardstock and added a layer of Whisper White cardstock for the background. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink towards the bottom right side of the card front and then I embossed the layer using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder (item #151775) to add texture.
To create the focal image, I die cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the large scalloped heart die from the Stitched Be Mine Dies. I did the same thing with a piece of Basic Black cardstock to create the frame for the Whisper White cardstock heart. Using Sponges, I colored the background of the Whisper White heart. Starting with Petal Pink Classic ink, I covered the entire area of the heart and then added Flirty Flamingo Classic ink, starting at the bottom of the heart and applying color approx. 2/3 of the way up. I added Calypso Coral Classic ink to the bottom of the heart and then went back over and blended with the Flirty Flamingo and Petal Pink inks to create a smooth background. I stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the sponged heart to complete the design.

To assemble the card, I attached the card front to the card base with Snail Adhesive. I then attached the Basic Black scalloped heart frame to the card front also using Snail Adhesive and finally attached the focal image to the center of the Basic Black frame with the same adhesive. The sponging is a beautiful way to add color to an image like this and I love how it made the image pop against the black and white background.

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope that my card design inspires you to create your own Thank You cards to send to people who have made a difference in your life.
