Welcome to the GSF Step It Up Blog Hop. This month we are showcasing how you can take a basic card or project idea and "step it up" to the next level. You will be visiting with demonstrators from all over the world as they share their ideas to help inspire you. I hope that you will enjoy our projects this month.
Today I chose the Lasting Lily stamp set (item #149717) for both of my card designs. This beautiful stamp set is a Level 2 Sale-a-bration Reward and can be earned Free with a US$100 order (not including S&H and Taxes). I love the classic feel of this stamp set and the sentiments are wonderful for creating cards for occasions when we need to reach out to people.
I chose Daffodil Delight cardstock for the card base and added a layer of Whisper White cardstock to stamp the images. I used Daffodil Delight Classic ink to stamp the lilies and Pear Pizzazz Classic ink to stamp the stems. I love how easy the photopolymer stamps make it to line up the images and the detail in the lilies is a product of the exclusive Distinktive style stamps that give the images a realistic look with just one stamp. The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and punched out with the new Story Label Punch (item #150076), part of the Sale-a-bration Coordination promotion. I cut two pieces of Daffodil Delight 1/4" Double Stitched Ribbon (item #144116) and layered them onto the card front over the stems. To complete the card design, I added the sentiment with Stampin' Dimensions and embellished it with Basic Pearls. This is an elegant card design that is perfect as a Sympathy card.
For my "Stepped Up" version of my card design, I once again used Daffodil Delight for the card base and stamped the images on a layer of Whisper White cardstock. I used the same colors as the first card design to stamp the lilies onto the Whisper White card front. I stamped another Lily image in Grapefruit Grove Classic ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and die cut it with the Lily Framelits Dies (150071). I did the same with the stem, stamping the image with Pear Pizzazz Classic ink and die cut it with the same dies. I love that Stampin' Up! has provided us with this versatile set of framelits to add even more possibilities to this wonderful stamp set.
To create the frame, I used the Rectangle Stitched Framelits dies (item #148551) to die cut a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock. I attached the frame onto the card front with Snail Adhesive, framing the stamped lilies. Next I added the Grapefruit Grove Lily and stem using Stampin' Dimensionals to add dimension.
To create the sentiment, I stamped the image onto a scrap of Grapefruit Grove cardstock with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with White Embossing powder. I then die cut the sentiment using the larger label die from the Lily Framelits dies. I cut a piece of Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon (item #146912) along the bottom of the card front and then added the sentiment with Stampin' Dimensionals over the top of the ribbon, so that it covered the bottom of the stems. To finish off the card design, I added Clear Wink of Stella to the Lillies to create a soft shimmer.
As you can see, it is possible to create both simple and stepped up card designs using similar supplies such as inks, paper and stamps. by adding punches, dies and embellishments, it is possible to change the look and feel of the card design to suit the occasion.
The Sale-a-bration Coordination products, such as the Lily Framelits dies and the Story Punch, are available only for the month of March and only while supplies last. Coincidentally, March is also the last month to take advantage of Sale-a-bration and earn the exclusive Free Level 1 and Level 2 Sale-a-bration Rewards. Now is the best time to place your order and take advantage of both of these wonderful promotions.
