Ink. Stamp. Share April Special Blog Hop

Welcome to the Special April Ink. Stamp. Share Blog Hop as we share our creative ideas to help you through this challenging time. Our theme for this hop is Anything Goes, so you will get to see a wide variety of projects beings shared by fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all over the world. I hope our creations will help inspire you to create your own wonderful projects to help life your spirits.
For my card design today. I thought I would share a graduation card. With everything that has been happening, my heart breaks for the Seniors of 2020 who have watched as their end of year events have disappeared. At this time of year, I normally start creating graduation cards and I decided that I would still follow the same tradition, because I know that one day we will get to celebrate their big day and I want to be ready when it happens.
Our high school's colors are blue, black and silver and I have found that Balmy Blue is a good match for the blue. I chose to use Basic Black cardstock for the card base and added a layer of Balmy Blue Designer Series Paper from the Subtles 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Pack (item #149615). To create the large sentiment, I heat embossed the Congrats sentiment from the Seriously The Best stamp set (item #151712) onto Thick Whisper White cardstock using Shimmer Black Embossing Powder and then die cut it out using one of the large ovals from the Layering Ovals Dies. I also die cut a scalloped oval, slightly larger than the oval, from Silver Foil using a scalloped oval die from the same die set and attached them using Snail Adhesive.
For the smaller sentiment, I used the image from the Witty-Cisms stamp set (item #151686) and heat embossed it with the Shimmer Black Embossing Powder onto a scrap of Balmy Blue cardstock. I die cut the image using a small circle die from the Layering Circles Dies and attached it to a scalloped Basic Black circle die cut using the same die set. For the ribbon, I took a piece of Silver 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon and colored it with the Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blend Marker.

To assemble the card, I looped the ribbon and attached it to the card front using Mini Glue Dots. I attached the large sentiment over the top of the ribbon using Stampin' Dimensionals and then added the smaller circle using Stampin' Dimensionals so that it slightly overlaps the large sentiment and is centered between the ribbon. To embellish, I added three small Basic Rhinestones that I colored using the Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blends Marker. This clean and simple design has just enough bling and sparkle to make it special but would still be suitable for a boy or girl graduate.  Both of the stamp sets I used today can be found in the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog and the remainder of the products can be located in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today. I hope that my card design will help inspire you to create your own celebration cards to help celebrate the special events during this difficult time. Through creativity, we can make a difference.

GSF January Blog Hop Party

Welcome to the Global Stamping Friends (aka GSF) January Blog Hop as we celebrate the launch of the new Stampin' Up! Catalogs with a Party theme. We will be sharing projects featuring products from the new Januar-June 2020 Mini Catalog and 2020 Sale-a-bration Catalog that you can order from starting today. I hope that we inspire you to create your own amazing projects for the New Year.
My card design features a stamp set that you might overlook at first glance going through the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog. The Seriously The Best stamp set (item #151712) can be found on page 60 of the catalog and coordinates with the Seriously The Best Project Kit (item #151307), which contains supplies to create cards suitable for all occasions. Today I have paired this stamp set with the stunning Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper (item #152311) from the 2020 Sale-a-bration Catalog to create a clean and simple card design that is perfect for a special celebration.
To create this card, I started with a Basic Black card base and added a layer of the gorgeous Gold and Basic Black striped designer series paper from the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper is so beautiful that it deserves to be the star of this card design.
For the sentiment label, I used one of the Stitched Nested Labels Dies (item #149638) to die cut a label from Basic Black cardstock. I love the stitched detail that these dies add to the labels that steps it up to the next level. Using the large Congrats stamp, I heat embossed it with Gold embossing powder onto the Basic Black cardstock label, leaving enough room to add the smaller coordinating sentiment stamp below, which I also heat embossed with Gold embossing powder. I attached the sentiment label to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals to help it stand out against the designer series paper background.
To complete this card design, I added three of the gold sequins from the Peaceful Poppies Sequins (item #151325), that can be found on page 25 of the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog, to the sentiment label using Mini Glue Dots. I think they add just a touch of bling without overpowering the card design.
I hope that you have enjoyed my card design and that it inspires you to look at the hidden gems in these new catalogs. I love that this card could be used as a masculine card to celebrate a milestone occasion or celebration.
