Home Decor SU Style Blog Hop July 2018

Welcome to the Home Décor SU Style July Blog Hop, featuring demonstrators from all over the world, sharing their home décor projects. You may have just visited Libby's blog and been inspired by her wonderful ideas. I hope that you will enjoy this amazing blog hop and that it will inspire you to explore creating your own home décor projects.

I love exploring new projects featuring items you can find at hardware store. Today I decided to play with some tiles that I found that were inexpensive to create coasters. I love the texture of these tiles and wanted to create something with an organic feel to it using the new Blended Seasons stamp set (available to customers for a limited time in August 2018) and Stampin' Blends.

The first tile features the wonderful leaves image and I stamped it onto the tile with Stazon Jet Black ink. Stazon is the perfect ink for non-porous surfaces and has a relatively quick drying time. It is solvent based so you do have to be careful when using the alcohol based Stampin' Blends when coloring, as they can pick up the Stazon ink on the tips. To clean the tips of your Stampin' Blend markers, simply color lightly on a scrap piece of paper to remove any trace of the Stazon ink and they will be ready to use for your next project. For the leaves, I used the Light and Dark Old Olive and Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends Markers. As you can see, it is possible to blend them a little but not as much as you can on paper. I like the way I was able to get multiple colors on each leaf. Two of the leaves I added a touch of Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blend to get a darker Fall color to provide a bit more contrast.

The second tile has a Christmas theme and I stamped the holly bough image twice to create a border for the top and bottom of the tile. I then stamped the sentiment in the center to create a traditional look to the tile. All images were once again stamped with Stazon Jet Black ink. This time I chose the new Call Me Clover Light and Dark Stampin' Blends markers to color the leaves and the Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends markers for the berries. I layered the lighter colors first and then added the darker shade to create shadows and dimension. I really loved the way these colors worked together.

I am looking forward to exploring more design ideas featuring a variety of stamped images colored with the Stampin' Blends markers. A quick tip that I will pass along is to use the brush tip of the marker and using the side of the brush tip, lightly add color to the stamped image on the tile. This way you can control the amount of color you add and not damage the tip of the marker.
The Blended Season stamp set is part of an limited time Promotion beginning August 1st. Stay tuned for more details to learn how you can take advantage of this wonderful promotion.

I hope you have enjoyed my projects today and I hope that it will encourage you to try different surfaces for your stamping projects. There are so many wonderful surfaces to be found around the home and at your local hardware store. Now it's time to visit Andrea's blog and see what she has to share this month. I hope you enjoy your time on our blog hop. Please leave us a comment letting us know what you enjoyed about our projects. Your feedback is appreciated.

Until Next Time.

GSF July Blog Hop Home Decor

Welcome to the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop for July. This month we are exploring Home Décor ideas to help you with your projects. You may have just visited Lisa's wonderful blog or perhaps you are starting your blog hop journey with me. I hope you will enjoy the creations we have to share with you.

For my projects, I chose to decorate two ceramic ornaments that I had left over from last Christmas. I love to create a special ornament for each family member to hang on the tree at Christmas. With Christmas in July in full swing, I thought this would be the perfect project to share with you.
It's wonderful that the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog has stamp sets for the holidays and I used several of these to decorate my ornaments, both front and back.

My first ornament features the reindeer image from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set (item #142043) and I stamped it onto the ornament using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the reindeer with my Stampin' Blend Markers using Light and Dark Crumb Cake and Bronze. I gently used the narrow tip to lightly add color onto the ornament, to prevent bleeding and to not damage the tip of the marker. The pine needles and holly berries were stamped using images from the new Mistletoe Season stamp set (item #146768). I used Granny Apple Green, Pear Pizzazz and Real Red inks to stamp these images.

For the back of the ornament, I stamped the sentiment in the new Shaded Spruce Classic ink and repeated the pine needles and holly berries that I used on the front. I used the new Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels (item #146924) to embellish the holly berries on both the front and back of the ornament.

My second ornament features the cute Eskimo image and I once again stamped it using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it using Pool Party Light and Dark, Bermuda Light and Bronze Stampin' Blend Markers. The snowflakes were stamped using an image from the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set (item #144820). I added the small Basic Rhinestones to the center of the snowflakes for a little bling.

For the back of the ornament, I stamped the sentiment from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set in Bermuda Bay Classic ink as well as the small snowflake images. The large snowflakes were stamped using Pool Party Classic ink. The snowflake stamps are from the Colorful Seasons stamp set (item #143726). I used Basic Rhinestones to decorate the center of the snowflakes to match the front.

These ornaments are a fun project to create for the holidays and give as gifts for people to decorate their homes. Each ornament is a memory that will live on each Christmas to remind them of their loved ones.

Home Decor SU Style Blog Hop June 2018

Welcome to the first Home Décor SU Style Blog Hop, featuring 20 amazing Stampin' Up! demonstrators sharing their creative projects to help inspire you. You may have just visited Kim Oliver's blog or perhaps you are starting your blog hop journey here. I hope that you will enjoy what we have to share.

Creating framed artwork can help you decorate your home or work place and I chose a small, simple frame to showcase my project. I love to add depth and texture to my projects so I chose to use the Colorful Seasons stamp set and coordinating Seasonal Layers Thinlets dies to accent the scenery I created using the Waterfront stamp set. Living in Colorado, I am blessed to enjoy the view of the Rocky Mountains every day, so I was inspired to create a mountain landscape. The Waterfront stamp set has a wonderful assortment of images to help you create a wide variety of scenes. I die cut a circle out of a piece of Pool Party cardstock to create a matte for my landscape and used Stampin' Dimensionals to create depth and dimension.

To finish off my framed artwork, I added a chair and branch and drink die cut with the Seasonal Layers Thinlets dies to the matte. I liked the feeling that you could sit in the chair and enjoy the view after a long day. My father has spent time in hospital recently and I thought that having a frame like this in his hospital room would help provide a cheerful alternative to looking at the walls of his room. Thankfully he is back home and recovering but his recent experience inspired me to create this frame. I hope that my project may inspire you to create your own framed art for someone special in your life.

Now it's time to visit Sara Levin's blog and see what she has to share with you today. Please use the blog hop list below to visit all the wonderful blogs in today's blog hop. We would love it if you would leave us a comment and let us know what you enjoyed about our projects. Your feedback is appreciated.
