Paper Pumpkin Possibilities Blog Hop Sentimental Rose

Welcome to the April Paper Pumpkin Possibilities Blog Hop and I am so excited to share with you all this amazing kit. The beautiful colors and images in this card kit are breathtaking and I just love the new Distinktive stamps that are available for the first time for us to create with. You will be visiting with Stampin' Up! demonstrators as they share their wonderful alternative ideas for this kit to help you create projects "outside" the box.

Let me just start by saying this Paper Pumpkin kit is probably my favorite kit ever. I love the designs of the cards, the wonderful color combinations and the new Distinktive stamp set is simply amazing. So when it came to designing an alternative design, I was overwhelmed with possibilities.

So I decided to focus on designing a card that you could create after you had used up all the supplies in the kit and you were left with the beautiful Sentimental Rose stamp set. My color combination was selected from the list of colors that were used with the kit, to create a soft and pretty card that would be suitable if you chose any of the sentiments in the stamp set.

I chose to use Gray Granite cardstock for my card base and added a layer of Flirty Flamingo cardstock to frame the main panel. I stamped the floral image with Flirty Flamingo Classic Ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and added the leaves using Mint Macaron Classic ink around the edges. To create the watercolor background, I used Gray Granite Classic Ink and created a soft wash using an Aquapainter.

The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with Versamark Ink and heat embossed using Gold embossing powder. I then punched out the sentiment using the Tailored Tag Punch (item #145667) and then added leaves that I heat embossed to embellish the tag. Before attaching the sentiment to the card front, I added a piece of Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon (item #146912). I used Mini Dimensionals to attach the sentiment over the ribbon, towards the center of the panel. To finish off the card, I added Gold Metallic Pearls (item #146282) to the centers of the flowers and colored the leaves and flowers with Clear Wink of Stella to add a soft shimmer to the design.

I just love the soft, romantic feel of this card design and I look forward to creating more projects with this beautiful stamp set.

Colour Combo May Blog Hop

It's time to have some fun with a New Colour Combo Blog Hop. For the month of May our colour combination is Pool Party, Peekaboo Peach and Pear Pizzazz. Try saying that 3 times fast. You have probably just visited Cheryl's amazing blog or perhaps you are beginning your blog hop journey here with me. Either way, I hope that you will enjoy this blog hop and that the projects we are sharing will help inspire you with your own projects.

I am so excited to share with you a sneak peek of the new bundle, Sea of Textures, from the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog that launches June 1st. I love the sea, so as soon as I saw this stamp set and coordinating framelits die set, I just knew I had to have it.

This month's color combination worked beautifully to create this under the sea card design and I was able to incorporate the colors using Stampin' Up!'s Classic inks and coordinating cardstock. The card base was created using Pool Party cardstock and I added a layer of Peekaboo Peach to matte the layer of Whisper White cardstock for the design. I used the Layering Circles Framelits dies to die cut circle from the Whisper White cardstock layer and then I gently sponged the circle with Pool Party Classic ink using a Sponge Dauber. I stamped the seaweed onto the sponged circle using Pear Pizzazz Classic ink to create a soft background.

I created the octopus by stamping the image onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Peekaboo Peach Classic ink. I used the coordinating framelit die from the Under the Sea framelits and also die cut the seaweed, coral and sand dollar die cuts with the coordinating dies from scrap cardstock. I stamped the net image onto the Whisper White cardstock layer with Pear Pizzazz Classic ink. The sentiment is from the stamp set, Picture Perfect Birthday, and I stamped it with Pool Party Classic ink.

To assemble the card I used Snail Adhesive to attach the octopus and other elements to the Whisper White cardstock layer. Using Stampin' Dimensionals I attached the Whisper White cardstock layer to the layer of Peekaboo Peach cardstock and placed the sponged circle inside the opening with Snail adhesive. To finish assembling the card, I used Snail adhesive to attach the layers to the Pool Party cardstock card base. I added Clear Wink of Stella to the stamped Octopus image and the die cuts to add a little shimmer.

I had a lot of fun creating this card with this month's color palette. I hope that you have enjoyed my card design and I hope it will inspire you to try this color combination for your own projects.

SBTD Blog Hop Background Techniques

It's time to hop with the SBTD (Stampers By The Dozen) Blog Hop team and our theme for March is Background techniques. As your journey along our blog hop, you will be inspired by a variety of techniques and projects created by Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the world. You may have just visited Susan's blog or perhaps you are starting your journey here. I hope that you enjoy this blog hop.

I love heat embossing and it is probably one of my favorite techniques to use when creating cards. So today I thought I would share with you two cards I created using heat embossing with the Emboss Resist technique. You can use a variety of different embossing powders for this technique and today I chose to use Whisper White embossing powder and Gold embossing powder.

As you can see, it is possible to create a variety of card designs using this technique and the type of embossing powder will also influence the final design. For both of my cards, I chose to use Whisper White cardstock for the layer to create the design and I added color by sponging ink onto the cardstock using Sponge Daubers.

For this first card, I chose the Lovely Wishes stamp set, from the 2018 Occasions Catalog. This is a beautiful stamp set for Spring cards and I love the elegance of the images and the simplicity of the sentiments. I used Gold embossing powder to emboss the larger floral image onto the Whisper White cardstock and then I gently sponged Lemon Lime Twist Classic ink with a sponge dauber all over the cardstock. Next, I gently wiped over the embossed areas with a tissue to remove the ink from the gold embossing and make it shine.

I added a little extra color to the leaves with a Blender pen and Tranquil Tide Classic ink and for the blossoms I used Peekaboo Peach Classic ink. I loved the way this made the images pop against the Lemon Lime Twist background. The smaller hearts image is from the Amazing Congratulations stamp set and I heat embossed these images with Gold embossing powder in the opposite corners to balance out the design.

The sentiment was stamped on Tranquil Tide cardstock with Gold embossing powder and punched out with the Pretty Label punch. From Gold Foil I punched out two more labels using the same punch and layered them behind the Tranquil Tide piece to create a frame. The Basic Pearls were colored with the Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends marker to coordinate with the blossoms and it worked beautifully with the gold embellishments. To finish off the card, I attached the design to a Tranquil Tide card base.

I love the classic elegance of this card design and the way that the colors worked together to create a lovely Spring card.

My second card features the Sale-a-bration stamp set, Lots of Lavender, and I used the large floral image to stamp the Whisper White cardstock layer in Versamark ink and emboss them with Whisper White embossing powder. I sponged Sweet Sugarplum Classic ink onto the Whisper White cardstock with a Sponge Dauber and then gently rubbed off the excess ink from the embossing with a tissue to make the embossing stand out.

For the sentiment, I die cut an oval using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies from Whisper White cardstock and embossed the semtiment from the Rose Wonder stamp set in Silver embossing powder. I attached a piece of Fresh Fig 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon to the center of the card and attached the oval on top of the ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals. I colored three Basic Pearls with the Light Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blends marker to coordinate with the Sweet Sugarplum sponged layer and attached them to the Whisper White oval.

To finish off the card, I attached the card design to a Fresh Fig cardstock card base. I love the way the Sweet Sugarplum looks with Fresh Fig to create this pretty Spring card.

As you can see, it doesn't take a lot of supplies to create with this technique and it can work with a variety of colors and stamp images. The possibilities are endless.

Color Combo Blog Hop January 2018

Welcome to our Color Combo Blog Hop for January as we start a New Year. I am excited to share this new color combination with you and the project that I came up with. This month we were challenged to use Pink Pirouette, Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede for our design. I must admit, I don't use pastels a lot, so this was outside my comfort zone and a fun challenge to take part in.

I decided to create the card base with Daffodil Delight Cardstock and used a layer of Pink Pirouette Cardstock as a matte for my layer of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Using the stamp set, You've Got This, I stamped the large background stamp in Pink Pirouette Classic ink to provide a soft background color. I then stamped the flower image in Soft Suede Classic ink on top of the Pink Pirouette background as well as the sentiment towards the bottom right of the Very Vanilla Cardstock layer.

To add a little more depth and interest to the flower, I used a blender pen to color the flower petals with Daffodil Delight Classic ink. I loved the way it made the flower pop against the Pink Pirouette stamped background and gave it an almost spotlight look. Next I added Clear Wink of Stella to the flower, stem and leaves for a little shimmer. The final touch was adding a couple of sequins from the Gold Mini Sequin Trim for a little added sparkle.

My favorite thing about this color combination was the softness that it gave this card design and I loved how the Soft Suede Classic ink worked as a great alternative to stamp the images. I think this color combination would work well for sympathy, thank you or birthday cards. I think I will be exploring using pastels more now that I have seen how beautifully they work together.

GSF Blog Hop 16: Festive Celebrations

Welcome to the GSF (Global Stamping Friends) Blog Hop 16 with Festive Celebrations as our
theme, featuring Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world to help inspire you. Today I decided to share two cards that show how to use Gold to add a festive touch to your Christmas cards.

These two cards are very different but each shows how you can use gold to step up your card or project to make extra special. The snowflake Christmas card has a classic, elegant feel to it, while the Seasonal Chums Reindeer card has a touch of whimsy that is sure to make people smile.

There is something so beautiful about a snowflake and I love the way the large embossed snowflake, created using the Winter Wonder Textured Embossing Folder (item #144686), creates a beautiful background to this card design. Using Thick Very Vanilla cardstock for the card base and another piece for the layer, the card could seem very plain, even with the embossed snowflake. But look what happens when you add a little Gold Foil for the circle matte, Gold embossing powder for the snowflake and sentiment and the Gold 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon for an accent. Suddenly the card takes on life and is transformed into a simply beautiful card. I used the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set for the snowflake image and the Hang Your Stocking stamp set for the sentiment. The finishing touch was a basic Pearl to embellish the center of the gold embossed snowflake. This card is quick and easy to create but looks like it took a lot of time and effort to create. It would be perfect if you have to make a large number of cards in a short time to send out to family and friends for the holidays.

For my 2nd card, I used more gold. A lot. This time I chose to use Thick Whisper White for my card base and I just had to use a piece of the Gold Checked DSP from the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper pack for the background. I used the reindeer stamp from the Seasonal Chums stamp set on Crumb Cake cardstock using Early Espresso Classic ink and heat embossed it with Clear Embossing powder. I then die cut it with the Seasonal Tags Framelits Dies and trimmed around the antlers with my Paper Snips. I colored the reindeer image with my Stampin' Blends for a little dimension and a pop of color. I added the image to a circle of Soft Sky cardstock with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to help him stand out. Next I layered the Soft Sky circle onto a Gold Foil Snowflake and attached it to the card. The sentiment is from the Labels to Love stamp set and I heat embossed it with Gold Embossing powder on Whisper White cardstock. I punched it out using the Everyday Label Punch, which coordinates perfectly with this stamp set. I added a piece of 1/8" Gold Ribbon to the card and attached the sentiment with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. There is so much to love about this fun card and it is simple to create and assemble.
