Technique Tuesday October Blog Hop Heat Embossing

Welcome to the Technique Tuesday Blog Hop and this month we are showcasing Heat Embossing, which is one of my all time favorite techniques. It was the technique that had me falling in love with stamping from the moment I first saw it. I love how it can step up a card to the next level for a simply Wow look.
I love heat embossing with Metallic embossing powders so I was excited to create this beautiful Fall themed Thanksgiving card using Gold and Copper embossing. The warm colors of Fall just seem to fit with these beautiful metallics and I love how the leaf images look embossed on the stamped backgrounds. I chose to use the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set with its wonderful organic images and I paired it with the sentiment from an old favorite, the Banner Year stamp set. The colors I chose for this card are Cajun Craze, Mango Melody and Crushed Curry with Very Vanilla for my neutral.

Card Front - 5" x 3 3/4"
Cajun Craze Cardstock
Layer 1 - 5 1/4" x 4"
Sentiment Label - 1/2" x 3"
This wonderful Fall card design is all about the heat embossing. I stamped the background of the Very Vanilla cardstock layer with Cajun Craze, Mango Melody and Crushed Curry Classic inks with the large background stamp from the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set to create the colors of the leaves. I heat embossed the large leaf image with Copper embossing powder over the top of the Cajun Craze background and Gold embossing powder for the other two leaf images over the Mango Melody and Crushed Curry backgrounds. For the sentiment, I heat embossed the image from the Banner Year stamp set with Gold embossing powder onto a strip of Cajun Craze cardstock. To embellish the card, I wrapped Linen Thread around the card front twice and tied a knot on the left side. Using Stampin' Dimensionals, I attached the sentiment label over the top of the Linen Thread and then added two small Gilded Gems to the sentiment label.
