Colour Combo March Blog Hop

Welcome to the Colour Combo March Blog Hop as we explore this month's color combination of Mango Melody, Petal Pink and Terracotta Tile. You will have the chance to visit with talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world as they share their ideas and projects to help inspire you to step outside your comfort zone.
The colors for this month's challenge led me to the new Hey Birthday Chick Bundle (item #158631). These colors are so sunny and cheerful and fit perfectly with this cute birthday chick image and the die cut birthday sentiment. I wanted to keep the design simple, so I chose not to use any embellishments and instead used the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder (item #151775) to add some soft texture to the background.

This clean and simple design is easy to create for a fun birthday card. The layering of the different colors of cardstock creates a frame for the focal image and sentiment. I colored the chick and cupcake with the Petal Pink and Mango Melody Stampin' Blends Markers and the Cajun Craze Stampin' Write Marker and die cut it with the coordinating die. I love how the Mango Melody cardstock makes the Happy Birthday die cut sentiment pop against the Basic White cardstock background. The Subtle 3D Embossing Folder adds wonderful texture to the background without overpowering the card design. I sponged a small area with Mango Melody Classic ink and a sponge to create the look of the ground. Using the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, I colored the sponged area, the images and the Happy Birthday die cut to add a touch of shimmer to finish off the design.
