Kylie's International Blog Hightlight August 2019

Today I am looking forward to sharing with you my card design for Kylie's International Blog Highlight for the month of August. Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the world are sharing their projects that provide encouragement. It may be to someone who is feeling sick, going through a tough time or just a way to reach out and show how you care. I hope that our project ideas will help you to reach out to the people you love.
My card design this month is actually a Christmas card that I designed for my Christmas in July Creative Card Class. The holidays can be a difficult time for people who are isolated from their family and friends and something as simple as a handmade card can help to brighten their day. Even though Christmas is still a few months away, it helps to get a head start on your cards so that you are ready for the holidays before things start to get busy.
My card design features the Rustic Retreat Cling stamp set (item #150285) from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog and I paired it with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder (item #152320) to create the wood grain background. I wanted this card design to have a country feel to it so I used Soft Suede cardstock for the card base and added a layer of Crumb Cake cardstock that I embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder. I then antiqued the embossed cardstock using a Sponge Dauber and Crumb Cake Classic ink.
To add a touch of color to this card design, I added cut a strip of Call Me Clover designer series paper from the 2018-2020 In Colors 6"x6" Designer Series Paper pack (item #149618) and created a banner using the Banner Triple Punch (item #138292). I adhered the strip to the embossed card front using Snail Adhesive.
For the focal design, I die cut an oval from Very Vanilla cardstock using the Layering Ovals Dies (item #151771) and stamped the cabin image from the Rustic Retreat stamp set with Early Espresso Classic ink. I colored the image using a variety of Stampin' Blends Markers and then attached the oval to a Soft Suede cardstock scalloped oval that I die cut using the Layering Ovals dies. I added the oval image to the banner layer with Stampin' Dimensionals. Using liquid glue, I added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the roof, tree tops and the ground in front of the cabin to create the look of snow.

To complete the card, I created the sentiment by stamping the image using Cherry Cobbler Classic ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and punched it out using the Tailored Tag Punch (item #145667) and then layered it onto a piece of Soft Suede cardstock that I punched out using the Everyday Label Punch (item #144668). I attached the sentiment label to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today.
