Kylie Bertucci's Monthly International Blog Highlights September 2020

Today I am taking part in Kylie Bertucci's Monthly International Blog Highlights for September. I am joining a wonderful group of talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators as we share beautiful designs with the theme of Thank You. I hope that you are inspired by our ideas and projects. 

 Today I am sharing a fun Thank You card that I created with my son's teachers in mind. I discovered this wonderful Chalkboard Easel technique from fellow Demonstrator, Debbie Henderson, and I just had to create my own version. This clean and simple design features the So Sentimental stamp set (item #151691) and I used the Apple Builder Punch (item #150663) and the Sprig Punch (item #148012) to decorate the card. This card design works great for both male and female teachers.

Measurements:
Soft Suede Cardstock Card Base - 4 1/4" x 11" (Scored at 5 1/2")
Cut opening at the base of the card - 3/4" from each side up to the 1" mark with Paper Trimmer
Cut across from the 3/4" mark to 3 1/2" mark and remove rectangle (cut through both layers of card base)
Soft Suede Cardstock - 4 strips 3/4" x 5 1/2" (Embossed with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder
Basic Black Cardstock piece - 3 3/4" x 3 3/4"

 The sentiment from the So Sentimental stamp set has been heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. I rubbed a small amount of Craft Whisper White ink across the Basic Black cardstock with a tissue to create the look of a chalkboard. The apple was punched from a scrap of Real Red cardstock and I used a Sponge Dauber to sponge the apple with Real Red Classic ink. The leaves were punched from Old Olive cardstock and sponged with Pear Pizzazz Classic ink. The stem was punched out from a scrap piece of the embossed Soft Suede cardstock and sponged with Crumb Cake Classic ink. The sprig was punched from Crushed Curry cardstock and sponged with Crushed Curry Classic ink. The Soft Suede cardstock strips were embossed with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Powder and I sponged them with Crumb Cake Classic ink to bring out the detail of the wood grain. I attached the top and bottom strips to the card front first and trimmed off the excess cardstock. I then added the upright strips on top along the sides of the card front to complete the design. This clean and simple card fits in a standard size envelope and I love the way it stands up to look like an old fashioned chalkboard easel.

New At SU May Blog Hop Retiring Product Parade Peaceful Place

Welcome to the New At SU May Blog Hop as we say goodbye to retiring products from Stampin' Up!'s current catalogs including the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, the January-June 2020 Annual Catalog and the 2019-2020 Experience Creativity Brochure. I hope our ideas will help inspire you to create your own wonderful projects with these retiring products. 

 Today's card design features the retiring Peaceful Place stamp set (item #151339) from the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog. I love the beautiful scenic image in this stamp set that truly lives up to its name. To create my card design, I combined this stamp set with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder (item #152320) to add texture to the frame and background and the Stitched Nested Labels Dies (item #149638) to create the frame for the stamped image.

 For this card design, I chose Soft Suede cardstock for the card base and I added a layer of Crumb Cake cardstock that I embossed with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder to create subtle texture for the background. I created the frame for the stamped image by using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies to die cut the frame from Soft Suede cardstock. I used the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder to emboss the frame to give it a woodgrain look. 

To create the focal image, I stamped the scenic stamp image onto Very Vanilla cardstock using Soft Suede Classic ink. I colored the image using Sponge Daubers and a variety of colors including Balmy Blue, Pear Pizzazz and a touch of Garden Green. I used the Watercolor Pencils to color the river banks using Early Espresso and I smoothed it out using a Blender Pen. I die cut the image using the largest die from the Stitched Nested Labels Dies and attached the Soft Suede frame on top using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. 

The sentiment was created by heat embossing the birthday sentiment image from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set (item #151331) with Gold Embossing Powder onto Very Vanilla cardstock and I die cut it with one of the small ovals from the Layering Ovals Dies (item #151771). I also die cut a slightly larger oval, using the same die set, from Gold Foil and attached the sentiment on top of the Foil oval. To assemble the card, I attached the frame to the card front with Snail Adhesive and then attached the oval sentiment so that it overlaps the frame using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. I love the feel of this masculine card design and I think it would work well as a Father's Day card or even to celebrate a retirement.

Kylie's Demonstrator Training Program Monthly Team Blog Hop January 2020

Welcome to Kylie's Demonstrator Training Program Monthly Team Blog Hop as we share wonderful projects and ideas to help inspire you to get creative. You will be visiting with Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world as they share their creations using products from Stampin' Up!'s amazing catalogs to help you plan your projects for 2020.

 Today's card features the new By The Dock Bundle (item #153817) from the new January-June 2020 Mini Catalog. I wanted to create a peaceful scene that would be suitable for a masculine birthday card. I love the wonderful images in the By The Dock stamp set (item #151622) and the coordinating dies in the Dockside Dies (item #151618) which makes this bundle a wonderful option for creating masculine card designs. You can choose to order these products separately or as a bundle to save 10%.

 This clean and simple card was created with a Night of Navy card base and I added a 2"x5 1/4" strip of Soft Suede cardstock that I embossed using the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder (item #152320) and then lightly sponged with Early Espresso Classic ink using a Sponge Dauber to help bring out the woodgrain detail. I attached this panel to the right side of the card base with Snail Adhesive.

For the focal image, I die cut a circle from Very Vanilla cardstock using one of the circle dies from the Layering Circles Dies (item #141705) and lightly sponged the bottom half of the circle with Seaside Spray Classic ink and the top half with Petal Pink Classic ink using Sponge Daubers to apply the colors. This creates a soft background for the boat, which I stamped with Early Espresso Classic ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock and die cut using the coordinating die. I attached the boat to the sponged circle with Snail Adhesive. To create the foreground, I die cut the grass with the coordinating die from the Dockside Dies from Old Olive cardstock. I also die cut two of the detailed oars from Crumb Cake cardstock with the coordinating dies and lightly sponged them with Early Espresso Classic ink.

To assemble the card, I attached two Mini Glue Dots to the right side of back of the focal circle and Snail Adhesive to the rest and attached it to the bottom of the card base, overlapping the embossed Soft Suede cardstock panel. I attached the grass die cut with Snail Adhesive along the bottom of the card so that it overlapped the circle and covered the bottom edge of the Soft Suede cardstock. 

For the sentiment I die cut a label using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies (item #149638) from Very Vanilla cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment with Copper Embossing powder. I cut each of the oars in half and attached them to the back of the sentiment label with Snail Adhesive, so that they appeared to cross behind the sentiment. I attached the label using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to the card base, towards the top of the card design. 

This clean and simple card design works well for a variety of occasions. Masculine cards are often a challenge and I think this new By The Dock Bundle is a welcome addition to my card making tool kit.
