2019 Kre8tors August Color Challenge Blog Hop

It's time for the 2019 Kre8tors August Color Challenge Blog Hop and this month we have been challenged to create a project using the colors from this beautiful scenic photo. We must choose at least 3 of the colors and we can also add Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Basic Black in our design.
The mountain scene in the Challenge photo inspired the background of my card design today and I couldn't wait to try out one of the new stamp sets from the 2019 Holiday Catalog. I chose to use Snow Front (item #150483) to create my Winter scene using the Challenge colors and I even managed to use all 5 colors for my card design.
For today's card design, I started with a card base created with Petal Pink cardstock and added a layer of Highland Heather cardstock to create a matte for the Whisper White panel. This color combination is so soft and pretty and perfect for a Winter scene.
To create the landscape, I stamped the mountain image several times with Highland Heather Classic ink to create the look of a mountain range, using first and second generation stamping. This is when you alternate between stamping the image freshly inked and then stamping again to create a lighter image. It helps to add depth and dimension to your stamping. Using a Sponge Dauber, I gently added color to the sky behind the mountains using Petal Pink Classic ink. I added color to the mountains using a Blender Pen and Highland Heather Classic ink to add shading to the mountains.
The scene for this card design has been created using the variety of stamps in the stamp set. I stamped the cabin and the larger tree using Early Espresso Classic ink and added the smaller trees using Gray Granite Classic ink. For the shadows on the ground, I inked the stamps with Gray Granite Classic ink and stamped off twice on a scrap piece of paper before stamping onto the card front. This gave a very soft shadow on the snow. The snowman was also stamped using Gray Granite Classic ink but this time I stamped it off once before stamping the image onto the card front so that the image wasn't too harsh and blended with the scene. In the large tree, I stamped a small cardinal using Cherry Cobbler Classic ink for just a little splash of color. I also colored the roof of the cabin using a Blender Pen and Cherry Cobbler Classic ink to help the cabin stand out against the snowy background.
For the sentiment, I chose to use the Happy Birthday stamp from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set (item #151331) and stamped it onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Early Espresso Classic ink. I then punched it out using the Classic Label Punch (item #141491) and layered it with another label punched out from Highland Heather cardstock. For a touch of bling, I added small Basic Rhinestones to the sentiment and added it to the card front with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. It's hard to see from the photos, but I also added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the stamped shadows with a two way glue pen for a little extra sparkle.
The Snow Front stamp set is so amazing and I am excited to explore all the wonderful possibilities with the images in this set. I was able to order from the 2019 Holiday Catalog a month early as one of the perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. The 2019 Holiday Catalog will be available for customers to order beginning September 4th but if you can't wait that long, consider joining the Stampin' Up! family as a demonstrator and experiencing all the wonderful benefits available. I would love to have you join my team.

I hope that my card design has inspired you to explore these beautiful colors to create your own projects. This wonderful color palette provides so many possibilities. If you live in the U.S. and do not already have a demonstrator, please contact me and I would be happy to help you.
