2018 Kre8tors Blog Hop Card Sketch Challenge

It's time for the July 2018 Kre8tors Blog Hop and this month we were challenged to use this sketch to create our project. What is a sketch you ask? It's like a map to help you create a layout for your card and you choose what colors and stamps to create your own unique project. You may have just visited Sue's blog or perhaps you are starting your journey here with me. I hope that are projects this month will inspire you to try this month's sketch and see what you can create.

My card was inspired by the hot, sunny days we have been experiencing here in Colorado over the past couple of months, so I wanted to use colors that reflected that. I chose Pool Party cardstock for my card base and Daffodil Delight cardstock as my first layer. I embossed the Daffodil Delight cardstock with the Simple Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item #145648) to add some texture to the card.

The focal point of the card was created by die cutting a scalloped square from Whisper White cardstock using the Layering Squares Framelits (item #141708) and another slightly larger plain square using one of the slightly larger dies, as a matte.

The cute otter image is from the Postcard Pals stamp set, one of my favorites from the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the image with Stampin' Blend Markers. The sky was created by lightly sponging Pool Party Classic ink with a sponge dauber.

The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a strip of Whisper White cardstock and I used the Tailored Tag Punch to flag the ends to create the look of a banner. The sun image is from the Tabs for Everything stamp set and I stamped it with Daffodil Delight Classic ink onto Whisper White cardstock. I punched it out using the 3/4" Circle Punch and matted it onto a circle of Pool Party cardstock punched out with the 1" Circle Punch. The small banner was created from a scrap of Gold Foil to complete the card design.
I love how bright and cheerful this card design is and with the sentiment it can be used for a variety of occasions to brighten someone's day.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today and I hope that my card has inspired you to try your own version of this card sketch. Now it's time to visit Jo's blog and see what she has created this month.
