GSF Blog Hop That Little Bit Extra

Welcome to the GSF (aka Global Stamping Friends) Blog Hop for April, where we will be exploring products that add that little bit extra to your projects. It is not uncommon to feel a little intimidated by the world of ribbon and embellishments or perhaps the thought of adding texture with products that sometimes seem a little scary. Join me and my fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world as we share our ideas and projects to help inspire you to explore the possibilities of adding that little extra something to your project. 

I decided to showcase the 2017-2019 In Colors and how easy they are to create projects with. Everything coordinates together so that it really does make it simple to put things together without any stress. Not only does this collection include cardstock and ink, it also has coordinating ribbon, Designer Series Paper and embellishments to help you.


My first card features the In Color, Berry Burst, which is a wonderful color for Spring cards. I chose to use Berry Burst cardstock for the card base and I added a layer of Berry Burst Fresh Florals Designer Series paper to create a pretty Spring background. The sentiment has been heat embossed with Gold embossing powder. I chose this sentiment from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set (item #143662) because it was the perfect size to be the focal point of this card. The sentiment has been embossed onto a circle if Whisper White cardstock die cut with one of the Stitched Framelits circle dies and I layered it onto a scalloped circle die cut from Berry Burst cardstock using the Layering Circles Framelits dies, to frame it so that it stood out against the background.

To dress up the card with a little something extra, I used the Berry Burst Finely Woven Ribbon (item #144133) to attach a piece to the card base down the center of the card and I also created a pretty bow. To complete the card, I attached the sentiment to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals and added the bow at the bottom of the circle with a Mini Dimensional.  For a touch of bling, I added Basic Pearls to frame the Gold embossed sentiment.


To create the second card, I followed the same format as the Berry Burst Birthday card, but this time I chose to use the In Color, Tranquil Tide, for the supplies. This time I chose to heat emboss the sentiment with Silver embossing powder and I embellished the sentiment with Basic Rhinestones to add a little bling. As you can see, the products all coordinate beautifully together so that you don't have to guess what products you need. I love the Tranquil Tide Finely Woven Ribbon (item #144136) as an accent for this card. The Fresh Florals Designer Series paper pack (item #144131) contains all 5 of the 2017-2019 In Colors in one paper pack (Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Powder Pink, Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig) in each of the designs, so it gives you a wonderful variety to create your projects.

Paper Pumpkin Pop Up Blog Hop May Good Things Grow


Welcome to the first Paper  Pumpkin Pop Up Blog Hop. We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators showcasing the amazing 5th Anniversary Paper Pumpkin kit that was release this March. As fans of Paper Pumpkin, we are excited to share with you all our alternative ideas for this incredible paper crafting kit to help inspire you to get creative. This month's kit is called "May Good Things Grow" and is a perfect way to create Spring projects.

You have probably just visited the amazing Janet Wakeland's blog and her wonderful ideas for this kit. Or perhaps you are starting your journey here with me. Either way, I hope that you will enjoy the fabulous ideas shared on this blog hop.

When I saw this amazing Paper Pumpkin kit, I immediately thought of an easel card. To me it was the perfect way to showcase the beautiful designs in this kit. I created the card base from Fresh Fig cardstock and used a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock for the inside layer.


For the inside layer, I stamped the decorative corner images (from the exclusive stamp set included in the kit) in the top corners of the Crumb Cake cardstock and heat embossed them with Gold embossing powder. Next I stamped the sentiment and repeated the process and then finally stamped the bottom two corners and heat embossed to create an area to write a personal sentiment.

At the base of the Crumb Cake cardstock layer, I cut a piece of Fresh Fig ribbon and snipped the ends to create a banner look. I attached the ribbon to the cardstock with Snail adhesive approx. 3/8" from the bottom. For the sentiment, I heat embossed the sentiment with Gold embossing powder onto the tag from the kit and added the purple pearls that were included in the kit to embellish. I added two layers of Stampin' Dimensionals stacked on top of each other to the back of the tag and centered it onto the Fresh Fig ribbon.

The final touch was created by covering two of the wood leaf embellishments  with Versamark and then Gold embossing powder, then heat embossed to create the look of gold embellishments. The leaves are from the free gift included in the kit and this is just one fun way that you can alter them to add to your projects. They are attached to the card with several Glue Dots.
To finish off the card, I cut the large background image from one of the decorative envelopes included in the kit to a finished size of 5 1/4" X 4" and layered it onto a piece of Fresh Fig cardstock sized at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". Next I attached the large floral die cut from the kit using Stampin' Dimensionals and attached it to the background layer. I added Clear Wink of Stella to the die cut flowers and leaves for a little extra shimmer. The bow was created with a piece of Gold 1/8" ribbon and attached with a Glue Dot. 

The card front layer was attached to the card base so that the bottom rests against the sentiment to create an easel. I just love the vintage look of this card and how easy it was to create with the supplies in this kit and it was so simple to create. I can't wait to create more of these cards with the rest of this wonderful kit.

Ink & Share Blog Hop Spring and Easter


Spring is here and what better way to celebrate the Ink & Share Blog Hop for March. Our theme this month is Spring and Easter and I had fun creating my cards for this theme. You have probably just visited Deb's amazing blog or perhaps you are starting your journey here. I hope that you will be inspired by our projects this month, to create your own Spring creations. 


For my cards this month, I thought I would showcase how to use Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Paper pack, Fresh Florals (item # 144131 $22.00 40 Sheets 12x12 5 In Colors) featuring the 2017-2019 In Colors. I must admit, I have often found using Designer Series Paper intimidating and was afraid to cut it up because it was too pretty. Lately though, I have discovered how wonderful it is to create simply beautiful cards and I have been hooked.


My first card features a sheet of the Designer Series Paper in Powder Pink. I love the pretty softness of this color and it works beautifully with the Crumb Cake cardstock card base. Did you know that you can cut one sheet of 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper into 6 pieces of 4" x 5 1/4"? That is enough for 6 card fronts. Also, each 12" x 12" sheet is double sided (a different design on each side), so you have the option to choose what design you want to use, depending on the card design.



The floral basket design is from the Blossoming Basket stamp set, which is part of the Blossoming Basket Bundle that you can earn Free during Sale-a-bration with a qualifying order ($100 order not including S&H and Tax). I stamped the image onto Whisper White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the image with Stampin' Blend Markers. I then hand cut the image out and layered it onto a scalloped oval die cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits dies. Next I layered it on to a Crumb Cake oval matte and attached it to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals. To finish off the card, I used Clear Wink of Stella to highlight the stamped image. I decided not to add a sentiment to this card but you could easily make this an Easter, Birthday or Thank You card with the appropriate sentiment.

My second card features the same Designer Series Paper but this time in Lemon Lime Twist, layered onto a Thick Whisper White card base. I also cut it so that it was suitable for a landscape card instead of portrait. I love the bright, cheerful look of this Designer Series Paper and it made me think of grass for this fun Easter card. The cute rabbit image is from the We Must Celebrate stamp set in the Occasions Catalog and I stamped it with Archival Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and colored it with Powder Pink Classic ink and a blender pen. For a touch of shimmer, I added Clear Wink of Stella to the rabbit image. I hand cut around the image and layered it onto a Whisper White oval die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies. For a little sparkle, I die cut a scalloped oval from the Turquoise Glimmer Paper in the Myths & magic 6" x 6" Glimmer Paper pack in the Occasions catalog, and layered the Whisper White oval on top with Stampin' Dimensionals. 

I created Easter eggs using the smallest oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits dies and various colors of cardstock, then embossed the ovals with different embossing folders to create texture. I attached the eggs to the card front with Snail adhesive and then attached the image with Stampin' Dimensionals. To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment, from the Sweet Little Something stamp set, onto a strip of Whisper White cardstock and heat embossed it with Gold embossing powder. I created the banners on each end using the Tailored Tag Punch.

SBTD Blog Hop Background Techniques



It's time to hop with the SBTD (Stampers By The Dozen) Blog Hop team and our theme for March is Background techniques. As your journey along our blog hop, you will be inspired by a variety of techniques and projects created by Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the world. You may have just visited Susan's blog or perhaps you are starting your journey here. I hope that you enjoy this blog hop.

I love heat embossing and it is probably one of my favorite techniques to use when creating cards. So today I thought I would share with you two cards I created using heat embossing with the Emboss Resist technique. You can use a variety of different embossing powders for this technique and today I chose to use Whisper White embossing powder and Gold embossing powder.


As you can see, it is possible to create a variety of card designs using this technique and the type of embossing powder will also influence the final design. For both of my cards, I chose to use Whisper White cardstock for the layer to create the design and I added color by sponging ink onto the cardstock using Sponge Daubers.

For this first card, I chose the Lovely Wishes stamp set, from the 2018 Occasions Catalog. This is a beautiful stamp set for Spring cards and I love the elegance of the images and the simplicity of the sentiments. I used Gold embossing powder to emboss the larger floral image onto the Whisper White cardstock and then I gently sponged Lemon Lime Twist Classic ink with a sponge dauber all over the cardstock. Next, I gently wiped over the embossed areas with a tissue to remove the ink from the gold embossing and make it shine.
I added a little extra color to the leaves with a Blender pen and Tranquil Tide Classic ink and for the blossoms I used Peekaboo Peach Classic ink. I loved the way this made the images pop against the Lemon Lime Twist background. The smaller hearts image is from the Amazing Congratulations stamp set and I heat embossed these images with Gold embossing powder in the opposite corners to balance out the design.

The sentiment was stamped on Tranquil Tide cardstock with Gold embossing powder and punched out with the Pretty Label punch. From Gold Foil I punched out two more labels using the same punch and layered them behind the Tranquil Tide piece to create a frame. The Basic Pearls were colored with the Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends marker to coordinate with the blossoms and it worked beautifully with the gold embellishments. To finish off the card, I attached the design to a Tranquil Tide card base. 

I love the classic elegance of this card design and the way that the colors worked together to create a lovely Spring card.



My second card features the Sale-a-bration stamp set, Lots of Lavender, and I used the large floral image to stamp the Whisper White cardstock layer in Versamark ink and emboss them with Whisper White embossing powder. I sponged Sweet Sugarplum Classic ink onto the Whisper White cardstock with a Sponge Dauber and then gently rubbed off the excess ink from the embossing with a tissue to make the embossing stand out. 

For the sentiment, I die cut an oval using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies from Whisper White cardstock and embossed the semtiment from the Rose Wonder stamp set in Silver embossing powder. I attached a piece of Fresh Fig 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon to the center of the card and attached the oval on top of the ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals. I colored three Basic Pearls with the Light Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blends marker to coordinate with the Sweet Sugarplum sponged layer and attached them to the Whisper White oval.


To finish off the card, I attached the card design to a Fresh Fig cardstock card base. I love the way the Sweet Sugarplum looks with Fresh Fig to create this pretty Spring card. 

As you can see, it doesn't take a lot of supplies to create with this technique and it can work with a variety of colors and stamp images. The possibilities are endless.
