It's time to hop with the SBTD Blog Hop for July and this month we have been challenged to re do one of our earlier card designs. You may have just visited Susan's blog or perhaps you are starting your journey with me. I hope that you will enjoy our projects and help you to see that everything old can be new again with a make over.
It was an interesting journey down memory lane and the card that I chose to remake is one of my earliest cards that I made as a new demonstrator with Stampin' Up! I had attended a card class with my Upline and we created this card and I loved it so much that I created my own version for a card class. As you can see, this card featured pastels and a lot of these colors no longer are in Stampin' Up!'s current color families.
For my remake, I chose colors that were more vibrant and I added a touch of gold to my design. I chose Night of Navy cardstock for my card base and added a layer of Mango Melody cardstock. For my designer series paper, I used the Garden Impressions 6"x6" Designer Series Paper (item #146289) and chose to contrasting patterns and attached them to the Mango Melody cardstock with Snail adhesive. I used the Gold 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon (item #144146) around the middle of this layer, hiding the seam line.
The stamp set I chose is Abstract Impressions (item #147513) and I stamped the flowers using So Saffron Classic ink and the leaves with Soft Sea Foam Classic ink onto a piece of So Saffron cardstock. The sentiment has been heat embossed with Gold embossing powder. I die cut the flower die from the Springtime Impressions Thinlets dies (item #146326) from Gold Foil and then fussy cut out a solid flower from Night of Navy cardstock by tracing around the small flower die and then layered them together and attached them to the corner with a Mini Stampin' Dimensional. To add a touch of bling, I added Basic Rhinestones to the center of the stamped flowers and the die cut flower. Then I layered it onto a piece of Mango Melody cardstock.
To put it all together, I used Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the layers and add dimension to the card design. I really love the new color combination and it was fun to take an old card design from my past and give it a fresh new look.
I love the Garden Impressions Suite with it's amazing products and the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper coordinates beautifully with the Abstract Impressions Bundle (item #148348, when you order the Abstract Impressions stamp set and Springtime Impressions Thinlets dies together as a bundle you can save 10%).
