Global Stamping Friends August Blog Hop Dog Days

Welcome to the Global Stamping Friends August Blog Hop as we celebrate Dog Days. Our theme this month can be interpreted in many different ways. Maybe as a way to celebrate your favorite pet or perhaps with a fun twist as the Dog Days of Summer with the hot weather we have been experiencing lately. Our wonderful Design Team is ready to share their projects and ideas to help inspire you to get creative with this month's theme.
Dogs have this wonderful ability to help you feel better when you are not feeling well. I am lucky enough to have two beautiful dogs and they have this knack of knowing when I am sick or just not feeling good and they are there to comfort me in an instant. So I thought for today's card I would create a Get Well card using the Pets & More stamp set and the Comforting Thoughts stamp set, both available in the Online Exclusives. I chose to use Copper Clay as my focal color as I wanted something warm and welcoming. For the background, I chose to use the Tartan Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper and I love how the tone on tone design adds wonderful texture to the background.

This card design is so sweet and I love the way the images in the Pets & More stamp set work to create both the outline and the solid image for each animal. To create my dog, I stamped the outline image using Early Espresso Classic ink onto Basic White cardstock and then flipped the stamp image over and used it to stamp the solid image using Copper Clay Classic ink over the top of the lined image, making sure to stamp off once on a scrap piece of paper to give a lighter tone. I used Paper Snips to fussy cut out the image and then attached it to the detailed circle die using Stampin' Dimensionals. For the sentiment, I stamped the image from the Comforting Thoughts stamp set using Early Espresso Classic ink onto the Basic White label. To create the card design, I layered the card front onto the Basic White layer and then attached the piece of Natural Polka Dot Trim around the bottom of the card front. I then attached the layers to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals to pop it up. I centered the focal image towards the top of the card front and added the sentiment over the top of the trim using Stampin' Dimensionals. To add a pop of color, I punched out two Real Red hearts using the Bee Builder Punch and added them to the sentiment label. To complete the card design, I added a Gold sequin to the dog's collar for a touch of bling.

Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Color Challenge Week 26 - Pecan Pie

It's time for Week 26 of the Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Color Challenge. This week we are showcasing Pecan Pie, a wonderfully warm brown from the Neutrals Collection. I love the versatility of this color and I can't wait to share what I created for this week's challenge.
For my card design today, I wanted to showcase the cute Pets & More stamp set from the Online Exclusives. I just love the adorable images in this stamp set and the bonus is that the images are reversible so that you have a solid image as well as the detailed line image. For this card design, I chose to use the dog image and used the Pecan Pie Classic ink for the detailed outline and then flipped the stamp over to create the solid background color by stamping off once to get the lighter shade of Pecan Pie. I also used the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set and coordinating Heartfelt Hexagon Punch to create the sentiment label and I wanted to create the look of faux worn leather by distressing the cardstock with Pecan Pie Classic ink using a Sponge Dauber. It reminds me of how a dog's collar would look and works well with the Gold embossing for the sentiment.
Products Used:

Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set (item #162882)
Heartfelt Hexagon Punch (item #162888)
2 3/8" Circle Punch (item #161354)
Neutrals 6"x6" Designer Series Paper (item #163773)
Pecan Pie Cardstock (item #161717)
Very Vanilla Cardstock (item #101650)
Pecan Pie Classic Ink Pad (item #161665)

Neutrals Adhesive Backed Sequins (item #161627)
Sponge Daubers (item #133773)
Stampin' Dimensionals (item #104430)
Measurements:
Pecan Pie Cardstock
Card Base - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" (Scored at 4 1/4")
Sentiment Label punched out with the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch
Very Vanilla Cardstock
Card Front - 5 1/4" x 4"
Large Circle punched out with the 2 3/8" Circle Punch
Neutrals Designer Series Paper (Pecan Pie Striped)
3 Strips - 1" x 4 1/2"
This fun card design is based off one of the card sketches that can be found on page 22 in the 2024-2026 Annual Catalog. I love the way the strips of designer series paper create a fun background for this card design and how they help make the focal image pop. I stamped the lined image for the dog with Pecan Pie Classic ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and then flipped the stamp over and stamped the reverse solid image side (stamping off once) over the lined image to create the two tone image. I then used the 2 3/8" Circle Punch to punch out the image to create the focal point for my card. For the sentiment, I heat embossed the sentiment from the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set with Gold embossing powder onto Pecan Pie cardstock and then punched it out with the coordinating Heartfelt Hexagon Punch. I distressed the edges of the cardstock with Pecan Pie Classic ink using a Sponge Dauber to give the cardstock a worn, aged look. To assemble the card, I attached the three strips of striped designer series paper to the Very Vanilla card front, spacing them evenly. I then added the focal image to the center of the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals to pop it up. To add some texture to the card design, I added a piece of Natural Polka Dot Trim around the card front below the focal image and added the sentiment label over the top using Stampin' Dimensionals, making sure the top of the sentiment label slightly overlapped the focal circle. I then attached the card front to the Pecan Pie card base using Stampin' Dimensionals. To complete the card design, I added a Gold sequin to the collar of the dog for a touch of bling. I think this card design showcases the versatility of Pecan Pie and is a wonderful way to showcase the variety of coordinating products available.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog for this week's color challenge. I hope that my card design will inspire you to give Pecan Pie a try when creating your next project. This rich, warm brown is so versatile and perfect for all seasons.
