New At SU April Blog Hop CASE A Team Member

Welcome to the New At SU April Blog Hop and this month we have been challenged to CASE a project created by one of our fellow team members. I will be CASEing Nina McMillan and as she is a new member to our blog hop, I have chosen a card she created before she joined us. I am excited to share what I have created and how Nina's card became my inspiration.

As you can see from Nina's card design, she has showcased designer series paper to create a fun design with strips spaced across her card front. The sentiment is her focal point for this design and she has added some twine and embellishments to create a beautiful clean and simple design. Just the kind of layout that I love.

So for my design, I chose to step up her layout by adding an additional layer and I chose to use the retiring Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper to create my strip pattern. For my sentiment, I used the retiring Next Destination stamp set and heat embossed the sentiment to step it up. While Nina's design is more feminine, I chose to go masculine and I love that this layout works perfectly for both situations.

Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper

9 Strips - 1/2" x 4" (Variety of Patterns)

This card design was so much fun to create and it's a great way to use up your designer series paper scraps. I cut 9 strips measuring 1/2" x 4" and arranged them onto my Pretty Peacock cardstock in a pattern that I was happy with, before adhering them to the cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread around the card front twice and then tied a bow on the left side. For the sentiment, I heat embossed the image with Gold embossing powder onto the Pretty Peacock label and then layered it onto a Night of Navy label to help make it pop. I attached the sentiment label to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals, placing it over the Linen Thread with the bow just to the left of the sentiment label. I then added the card front to the Night of Navy card base using Stampin' Dimensionals to pop it up. To complete the card design, I added several Gold sequins to coordinate with the heat embossing. I just love how this card design turned out and I had so much fun CASEing Nina's beautiful card design.

Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Color Challenge Week 15 - Misty Moonlight

It's that time of the week again for the Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Challenge. Can you believe we are already at Week 15? It's crazy how fast this year is going by. This week's color is Misty Moonlight, one of my favorite blues and I am excited to share the card I created to showcase this beautiful color.

For my card design, I chose to use the Fractured Card technique to create a fun masculine card design. I am also giving some of my favorite retiring products a final send off and for this design I chose to use the He's All That stamp set and coordinating All That Dies along with the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper. I love the texture in the Misty Moonlight designs from this paper pack and it was perfect for this card. Instead of using Basic White as my neutral, I chose to use Gray Granite to coordinate with one of the designer series paper patterns. I think it helps give the design a bit of a grunge look. Scraps from 2 different designs

To create this fun card design, I chose two of the Misty Moonlight patterns from the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper to create the look of the fractured card. I used a piece of Basic White cardstock for the base layer and added a Misty Moonlight square to the center of the card front as the focal point for the design. I then added the Gray Granite strips around the outside edges of the square to create the fractured look. Using scraps of the designer series papers, I alternated the different designs and adhered them to the open spaces, flush with the Gray Granite strips and then trimmed the excess to have the card front be the finished size of 5" x 3 3/4". For the focal image, I stamped the image using Misty Moonlight Classic ink onto Gray Granite cardstock and then die cut it out using the scalloped circle from the All That Dies. I adhered it to the center of the square using Stampin' Dimensionals to pop it up. I attached the card front layer to the Gray Granite cardstock layer and then to the Misty Moonlight card base. To finish off the design, I colored several of the White Classic Matte Dots using the Dark Misty Moonlight Stampin' Blends Marker and added them to the top and bottom strips. I love how this card turned out and I think it's the perfect masculine card design.
