We Create October Blog Hop Haunts & Harvests

It's time to start a new month with the We Create October Blog Hop. This month our theme is Haunts & Harvests, which is perfect as we get into the swing of Fall. Our creative Design Team will be sharing their projects and ideas to help spark your creativity and help you create your own fun projects for the new season.
For our family, October is the time to celebrate Halloween. We love to decorate our front yard and put up displays inside to get in the spirit of the season. So, of course I had to create a spooky fun Halloween card for today's blog hop. I chose one of the designs from the Them Bones Designer Series Paper to create the background design for my card. I thought the spotlight was perfect for showcasing the skeleton from the Bag of Bones Bundle and I decided to dress him up with a top hat, bow tie and cane. The Glow In The Dark Ghosts and Bats are the perfect embellishment for this design and add the perfect finishing touch.

To create this fun card design, I cut out the background design from one of the sheets of paper in the Them Bones Designer Series Paper. This particular sheet has a collage of designs that you can use for a variety of projects. I layered the card front with a layer of Pumpkin Pie cardstock to help make it pop. For the background of the Starry Sky card base, I stamped the stars image from the Tricks or Treats stamp set to create a tone on tone design using Starry Sky Classic ink. I then attached the card front to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals. For the skeleton, I heat embossed the image with White embossing powder onto Starry Sky cardstock and die cut the image with the coordinating dies. I also die cut a top hat, bow tie and cane from Basic Black cardstock to dress up my skeleton. I attached the skeleton to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals so that he is standing in the spotlight. I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the top hat, bow tie and cane for a touch of shimmer and then added them to the skeleton. For the sentiment, I heat embossed the image with Black embossing powder onto a strip of Paper Pumpkin cardstock and used the Cross Punch from the Inked & Tiled Punch Pack to create a banner on the left side of the sentiment and then trimmed the right side before adding it to the card front. To complete the card design, I added a couple of Glow In The Dark Bats & Ghosts to the card front to add a spooky touch. This card would make a cute October birthday card for someone special or just as a way to brighten someone's day.
