Around The World On Wednesday August Blog Hop Never Grow Up

Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday August Blog Hop with our theme this month, "Never Grow Up". Our talented Design Team members will be sharing their projects and ideas to help inspire you. There are so many possibilities with this month's theme and I am excited to see what everyone creates.
No matter how old our children are, in our minds we remember when they were small and relied on us for everything and we were there world. This week, my youngest son will turn 18 and it had me thinking about how quickly time has flown by and how fast he grew up. So, when I thought about this month's theme, I wanted a card that reflected that no matter how old my children are, I am always there for them. For my card design, I chose to use the penguins image from the Sweet & Precious stamp set with one of the designs from the Stargazing Designer Series Paper. For the sentiment, I heat embossed the image with Silver embossing powder directly onto the designer series paper. I love the simplicity of this card design and how these products worked together.

Have you ever had an idea for a card design in your head that you just had to create? That's how I felt about this card design. I knew I wanted a starry sky for my background and the Stargazing Designer Series Paper had just what I was looking for. I stamped the penguins image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Basic White cardstock and colored the image with Stampin' Blends Markers. Next, I fussy cut the image out and then colored the edge and open space around the penguins using the Light Night of Navy Stampin' Blends Marker. For the sentiment, I heat embossed the image with Silver embossing powder towards the top left corner. I wanted to spotlight the penguins, while still allowing the background to show through, so I die cut a large Vellum cardstock circle and attached it to the bottom left corner of the card front and trimmed off the edges. I adhered the penguins to the Vellum cardstock circle, lining up the bottom of the image with the bottom of the card front and then adhered the card front to the Blueberry Bushel card base. To finish off the card design, I added several Basic Rhinestones to the card front to add a touch of sparkle.

  7. How lovely! I like the way the parent and child appear to be in a cocoon, with the circle behind them, yet the universe is out there waiting for when they're ready. :-)
