We Create April Blog Hop April Showers

Welcome to the We Create April Blog Hop as we celebrate Spring with our April Showers theme. Our wonderful Design Team members will be sharing their projects and ideas to help get you excited about creating projects for Spring.
For my Spring themed card, I decided to use the beautiful Awash In Beauty Designer Series Paper, which is sadly retiring soon. The designs in this paper pack are perfect for Spring cards of all occasions and make wonderful clean and simple designs. I wanted to showcase this pretty paper as much as possible, so I chose to keep the embellishments to a minimum and chose a smaller sentiment that wouldn't overwhelm the design of the card. I love how this card gives the feeling of having a glimpse into a lovely garden full of colorful flowers.

To create this card design, I chose to use Merry Merlot for the card base, as I really liked the way it made the floral design pop. I added the layer of designer series paper to the card front and colored the flowers with Clear Wink of Stella to add a touch of sparkle. For the sentiment, I heat embossed the image from the Happiness Abounds stamp set with Gold embossing powder onto the Merry Merlot sentiment label. This wonderful stamp set is retiring and I will miss the wide range of sentiments and the beautiful fonts that make it a great every day stamp set. I added the sentiment to the card front with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals towards the bottom right side. To finish off the card design, I added several Polished Pink Opal Rounds and several Brushed Brass Butterflies. This card layout would work well for a variety of occasions and there are so many beautiful designs in the Awash In Beauty Designer Series Paper that would make pretty cards to send to friends and family.

  2. I love it when the paper is so pretty it speaks for itself. Using the paper as the focal image and adding a tag sentiment is a great idea.
