Around The World On Wednesday August Blog Hop Let's Shake Things Up

Welcome to the Around The World On Wednesday August Blog Hop as we shake things up with our projects this month. You will be visiting with amazing Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world as we share our ideas and projects to help inspire you.
For my interpretation of this month's theme, I decided to shake things up by trying something new that I had always wanted to try that was outside my comfort zone. Over the past few weeks I have been seeing a lot of slimline card designs and I thought they looked like something fun to try but just hadn't gotten around to it. I decided to use products from the Ornate Garden Suite from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog for my design as they were products I had ordered during the preorder back in May but hadn't really had a chance to explore their full potential. In particular, the beautiful Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper (item #152488) has been rather intimidating and I thought that this card would be the perfect opportunity to use this beautiful gold foil paper.
To create this card design, I started with a 8 1/2" x 7" piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock and I scored it at 3 1/2" along the 7" side to create a long slim card base. I added a 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of the pretty gold foil pattern of the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper for the background. I added a piece of Whisper White 1/2" Faux Linen Ribbon from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack (item #153620) around the center of the designer series paper layer and attached it to the card base.
The sentiment layers were created using the Ornate Layers Dies (item #152726) and the sentiment was heat embossed onto the center label with Gold Embossing Powder. I combined Thick Whisper White cardstock and Gold Foil to create the different layers to coordinate with the designer series paper.
To finish off the card design, I tied a bow with the Whisper White 1/2" Faux Linen Ribbon and added it to the left side of the sentiment using Mini Glue Dots. This ribbon is wonderful for tying bows and I love how the bow completes the design. I am so happy with this card design and I am glad I overcame my fear of cutting up this pretty paper. I can't wait to create more cards with the other designs in this beautiful paper pack.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today. I hope that you enjoyed my card design and I hope it inspires you to try something new with your creative projects and overcome your fear of cutting up pretty designer series paper.
