SBTD CASE the Catalog Blog Hop

Welcome to the SBTD February Blog Hop with this month's challenge being to CASE the catalog. What is CASE? There are several versions but the one I love and use is Copy And Share Everything. Basically when you CASE, you can copy someone's project exactly or you can change elements to create your own version of the original. Stampin' Up! provides us with so many wonderful ideas in their catalogs that we can all CASE to make life easier and inspire creativity. I hope that our projects will inspire you to try CASEing something you have seen in one of the wonderful catalogs that Stampin' Up! has available.

The card I have chosen to CASE is from the 2019 Occasions Catalog on page 47. As you can see, the cards in this photo feature the Dear Doily Bundle and I chose the Crushed Curry card that features the Doily Builder Thinlets dies to create a beautifully detailed background. When you order both the stamp set and coordinating Thinlets dies as a bundle, you can save 10%.
For my CASE of this card design, I chose to change the color combination and use colors from the 2017-2019 In Color Collection. For the card base I used Powder Pink cardstock and I added a layer of Fresh Fig cardstock that I die cut using the large detailed die from the Doily Builder Thinlets Dies (item #148553). I love the contrast between these two colors and how it brings out the wonderful detail of the doily die cuts.
The circle was created with the 2 1/4" Circle Punch (item #143720) from Whisper White cardstock and I stamped the sentiment onto the cardstock with Berry Burst Classic ink (147143). On scrap Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the floral image twice from the Dear Doily stamp set (item #148690), coloring them with the 2017-2019 In Color Stampin' Write Markers (item #144033). I used Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide for the stems and Berry Burst and Fresh Fig for the flowers. To soften the images, I added Clear Wink of Stella to create a soft water color look.
I die cut the floral images with the coordinating die in the Doily Builder Thinlets Dies and layered them onto the Whisper White circle. Taking a piece of Berry Burst 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon (item #14548), I layered it onto the card front and attached it with Snail Adhesive. I added the Whisper White circle on top of the ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals to add dimension. To finish it off, I added a Braided Linen Trim Bow (item #147808) and attached it with a Mini Glue Dot.
As you can see from my version of this card design, it's amazing how different the two cards look, just by changing the colors used. I kept everything else basically the same as the original card design, with just a slight change for the sentiment and the ribbon detail. CASEing is a great way to explore your creativity and avoid the dreaded "Stamper's Block".
