We Create Summer Blog Hop

It's time to hop with the We Create Blog Hop and August's theme is Summer. I hope that you will enjoy visiting our blogs and seeing all the wonderful products shared by the amazing Stampin' Up! demonstrators featured in this hop.

When you think of Summer you may think of hot, sunny days at the beach or hiking in the mountains. For me, I think of the wonderful flowers that bloom in a wide array of beautiful colors in our gardens and out in the fields. This inspired my card design featuring the products from the Share What You Love Suite in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. I learned about this card technique from fellow demonstrator, Ronda Wade, and thought it was the perfect way to showcase the beautiful designs in the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper pack (item #146926). I just love the pearlized finish on some of the designs and I chose one of these papers for my card design.
I chose Grapefruit Grove, one of the new 2018-2020 In Colors, for my card base and cut and scored the cardstock so that the card front had only and inch visible. I attached a piece of coordinating designer series paper to the narrow piece of cardstock using Snail Adhesive and attached a 3/8" strip piece of Basic Black cardstock to the front to cover the seam. I added a piece of Gold 3/8" Metallic Edge ribbon (item #144146) around the card and tied a simple note in the front. I used Mini Glue Dots under the ribbon on either side of the knot to hold the ribbon in place.

The focal image was created by die cutting a large circle from Very Vanilla cardstock and a scalloped circle from Basic Black cardstock using the Layered Circle Framelits dies. The floral image was stamped using Grapefruit Grove Classic ink from the Love What You Do stamp set (item #148042) and the sentiment was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
For the inside of the card, I stamped the floral image and sentiment in Grapefruit Grove Classic ink onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and adhered it to the inside of the card. I love the way the reverse side of the designer series paper is on display on the inside of the card and contrasts nicely with the Grapefruit Grove card base.
The Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper has wonderful designs that are perfect for creating summer themed projects and the colors are perfect. The heavier weight paper makes it perfect for creating boxes and gift bags as well.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. I hope that you have enjoyed my card and I hope that it will inspire you to try using designer series paper to create your own summer projects.
