Around The World On Wednesday February Blog Hop Basic Essentials Challenge

It's time to hop along with the Around The World On Wednesday February Blog Hop as we explore this month's theme "Basic Essentials Challenge". You will be visiting with our talented Design Team Members as they share their projects and ideas to help inspire you.
When it comes to Basic Essentials, I love creating clean and simple card designs with paper, stamps and ink. My Paper Trimmer is probably my most important tool in my craft room and I used it for every project I create. For today's card design, I chose to use the new All Together 6"x6" Designer Series Paper to create my focal design and I paired it with the Celebrating You stamp set from the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog. Sentiment stamp sets are another of my Basic Essentials and I love the variety of images and font styles in this stamp set. You may have noticed that my design features Basic White and Basic Black with Polished Pink providing a pop of color. The layout I chose to use for this card was CASEd from a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Julie Davison, and I love how striking this design is. It could work for a variety of colors and designer series papers.

When I think of Basic Essentials, I think of my go to supplies as well as my go to style of card design. Clean and simple cards are my favorite style and what I feel most comfortable creating. That doesn't mean boring, as there are so many different ways to create clean and simple cards. I love using designer series paper to add interest and variety to my designs and I choose cardstock colors that coordinate to tie it all together. For this card design, I attached the strips of designer series paper to the Polished Pink cardstock layer, arranging them so that there is an even distance around each piece to create a border. For the sentiment, I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a 1/2" strip of Basic White cardstock and then created a banner of the right end using the Banners Pick A Punch. I attached a piece of Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon around the bottom of the focal layer and attached the ends to the back. Using Stampin' Dimensionals, I added the sentiment label to the focal layer, above the ribbon. I attached the focal layer to the Basic Black card base with Stampin' Dimensionals and added two small Black Matte Dots to embellish the sentiment. I love adding ribbon and simple embellishments to complete my cards to give them a finished look without being too over the top.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. I hope that my card design will help inspire you to create your own projects using the Basic Essentials in your crafting stash and perhaps add a few new supplies to expand your collection.

  5. It's a lovely layout - simple, clean and so versatile. You can't go past black and white with a pop of strong colour for a classic design.
