ICS May Blog Hop It's A Guy Thing

Welcome to the ICS May Blog Hop with our theme this month of "It's A Guy Thing". Masculine projects are something that we often struggle to create. You will have the opportunity to visit with talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world as they share their ideas and projects to help inspire you. With Father's Day coming up soon, we hope that our projects will help to spark your creativity to create your own wonderful masculine projects.
With all the wonderful new products in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, you may be surprised to see that I have chosen to use two products that have carried over from the last catalog. I have had the Campology stamp set (item #152553) for a couple of months but this is the first chance I have had to ink it up. I paired it with the wonderful In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (item #152494) and I am so happy that we still have the amazing designs in this beautiful paper pack to create our projects. My favorite designs just happen to be the woodgrain patterns and I chose one of them for the background for my card design today. This clean and simple design has a rustic feel to it that works well in a masculine card and I think this would work well for a Father's Day card or a masculine birthday card.

This card design is simple to create and I love that the designer series paper background provides that Wow factor without being too over the top. For the focal image, I stamped the lantern onto the Very Vanilla Thick cardstock label with Early Espresso Classic ink and I colored it with Crumb Cake and Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends Markers. A note of caution, make sure to allow the stamped image to dry before trying to color it, otherwise you will risk the ink bleeding, which is a problem I encountered with Daffodil Delight when I oversaturated the area. I would recommend adding a light layer of color and minimal blending to avoid this from happening to you. For sentiment, I heat embossed the image onto the tag label with Gold embossing powder and I added the Early Espresso Reinforcer tab to the tag so that it lined up around the hole of the tag. Using Linen Thread, I wrapped it around the designer series paper layer twice and then tied a knot towards the center of the card front. I added the focal image with Stampin' Dimensionals to the left side over the top of the thread. For the sentiment tag, I threaded one of the ends of the Linen Thread (from the knot) through the hole and tied another knot to secure the tag. I added Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of the tag and attached it to the card front over the top of the Linen Thread that is wrapped around the card. The last step is to attach the card front to the card base with adhesive and you have a wonderful masculine card ready to give to someone special. As you can see, I kept the design very simple to avoid having the design be too busy.
