It's time for the December SBTD (Stampers By The Dozen) Blog Hop and this month our theme is to create something seasonal that is not holiday related. Sometimes we just need a card for a birthday, thank you or maybe even an anniversary that reflects the season. Living in Colorado, we are getting ready for Winter, so I thought a wintery card design would be perfect for this hop. You may have just visited Susan's blog or perhaps you are getting started here with me. I hope that our projects this month will help inspire you to get creative.
When I think of Winter here in Colorado, I think of snow and how it looks covering the mountains and the trees that we see all around us. I decided to use the In the Woods Framelits dies (item #147919) from the 2018 Holiday Catalog, to die cut the detailed pine tree from Whisper White cardstock and I added Clear Wink of Stella for a little bit of shimmer to the tree. To create the foreground of the snowy landscape, I used the curved line die to give the appearance of a gentle slope that I die cut from a piece of Sparkle Glimmer Paper (item #146957). I just love how it creates the look of snow glistening.
The card base is one of the beautiful Silver Foil Edged Cards (item #147900 20 Cards & Envelopes) from the 2018 Holiday Catalog and I love that they are being carried over and will still be available to order in the New Year. The shine of the silver foil really makes the layer of Night of Navy cardstock pop. I embossed the Night of Navy layer with the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item #139673 in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog) to create the appearance of trees in the background and I brushed the raised tree trunks with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (item #147044) using a Sponge Dauber. The shimmer paint adds a soft glow to the background that I love.
To finish off the card, I colored some Basic Pearls using the Light Night of Navy Stampin' Blends Marker and added them to the tree die cut. I also added a bow created using the Silver 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon (item #144213) to the base of the tree.
This simply elegant card design would be perfect for many occasions and I felt that I didn't want to spoil the wintery scene with a sentiment. This design would also make a great masculine card design for a special occasion.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog today and I hope you have enjoyed my card design. Now it's time to visit Courtenay's blog and see what she has to share with us this month. Just click the Next button below to visit her blog.
Until Next Time.
