Welcome to the Ink. Stamp. Share March Blog Hop and this month we have been challenged to create masculine projects for the men in our lives. We often find it difficult to create masculine designs and struggle with what colors to choose and what designs work best. You may have just visited Anastasia's blog or perhaps you are getting started with me. I hope that our ideas will inspire you to create your own masculine designs.
For my card design today, I decided to use the Florentine Filigree Bundle (item #150612) which features the Florentine Filigree Photopolymer stamp set (item #148822) and the coordinating Florentine Thinlets die (item #149052). When you order both of these products together as a bundle, you save 10%. When I first looked at the designs in this bundle, I was struck by the geometric shapes and the classic font of the sentiments. I felt that they would work well to create a tailored style card design.
I chose to use Smoky Slate cardstock for the card base and added a layer of Merry Merlot cardstock that I embossed with the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (item #147906), which carried over from the 2018 Holiday Catalog. I love the texture that this embossing folder adds to the card design and the geometric shapes coordinate with the bundle. I die cut a piece of Night of Navy cardstock using the Florentine Thinlets die and adhered it to the embossed Merry Merlot cardstock layer. I just love these colors together and the detail of the embossing provides a great contrast with the die cut layer.
To finish off the card design, I stamped the sentiment with Night Of Navy Classic ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punched it out using the Story Label Punch (item #150076), one of the limited edition products from the Sale-a-bration Coordination promotion that ends March 31st. I then stamped around the edges of the label using the larger filigree border design image using Merry Merlot Classic ink. To create a matte for the sentiment, I used the Story Label Punch to punch out a piece of Silver Foil and cut it in half to layer behind the sentiment. I attached the sentiment to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
To add extra dimension, I adhered the card front to the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals. As this is a masculine card design, I chose not to add any ribbon or embellishments. I like the strong, clean and simple look of this card layout.
I hope that you have enjoyed my card design today and I hope that it has provided with new ideas for creating masculine cards. Combining bold colors and geometric designs can be a fun way to come up with new possibilities for the men in your life.
