Welcome to 2018 Kre8tors Blog Hop for March as we share ideas for birthdays to help inspire you. We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world, with a variety of projects focusing on one of the most special occasions we celebrate each year: birthdays. You may have just visited Rebecca-Jo
Unwin blog and her wonderful creations. Or you maybe starting your creative journey here. I hope you will enjoy the projects I have to share with you today.
One of my favorite things about creating hand made birthday cards is the opportunity to create a one of a kind card that is special to the person receiving it. So many times my kids would go to a friend's birthday party and they would see everyone giving the same card. They were always so happy and proud to give the card that I had made and the child receiving the card loved getting something special and unique to them.
Today I decided to share three different birthday cards to showcase the variety of styles that can be created depending on the stamp set chosen. This first card was created using the We Must Celebrate stamp set, which has a wonderful variety of cute images and sentiments. I chose to stamp the background of the card base with the confetti image with Marina Mist Classic ink onto Marina Mist cardstock for a tone on tone look. The main image was stamped with Archival Basic Black ink and I colored the animal images with Watercolor pencils and blended them with a Blender pen to create a watercolor look. The sentiment was heat embossed with Gold embossing powder. I used a layer of Night of Navy cardstock to matte the Whisper White cardstock layer to create a frame for the images. This clean and simple card would be great for kids or even as a masculine birthday card. I love the fun, whimsical feel to this card.
My second card has more of a classic, elegant feel to it. I used the Petal Palette Bundle to create this card and I used a piece of the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper for the background. I colored the images with Stampin' Blends and I love the way the colors make the images pop against the black and white background. I added a layer of Pool Party cardstock to coordinate with the Pool Party Stampin' Blends I used to color the roses. The Petal Palette bundle is one of my favorites from the 2018 Occasions Catalog and has an amazing combination of images and sentiments to help create beautiful cards.
My third and final card has a more relaxed, casual feel to it. This time I chose to use the Waterfront stamp set to create a beach scene at twilight. I sponged the background onto a Whisper White oval die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I used Powder Pink, Sweet Sugarplum and a touch of Fresh Fig Classic inks to create the sponged sky and stamped the images in Soft Suede Classic ink with Tranquil Tide Classic ink for the tree tops. I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the beach and tree tops for a touch of shimmer. The card base for this card is Sweet Sugarplum and I used the spotted background stamp to create a tone on tone background using Sweet Sugarplum Classic ink. I added the sponged oval to a layer of Whisper White cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment (from the We Must Celebrate stamp set) with Silver embossing powder. I attached the Whisper White layer of cardstock to a layer of Fresh Fig cardstock with Snail adhesive and then attached it to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals. This clean and simple design could be created in a variety of colors to change the feel of the card and change it to a more masculine card. I was inspired by a card design created by fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Tami White, that she shared on her Facebook Live recently. I love the way it turned out.
I hope you have enjoyed my projects today and I hope they inspire you to experiment with different stamp sets and color combinations to create birthday cards for the people you love.
